Okay. . . .to begin with I've been on this forum since around March of 2008. Not many post. Just a few.
I started listening to Pink Floyd, ELP, Yes, etc., etc., before getting into the Dream (Tangerine Dream) back in 1978. My first album was Thief. A co-worker introduced me to Sorceror and I was blown away. Well, I thought so until I went out and bought TD's Ricochet, Rubycon and Phaedra. The next ten years I bought whatever TD albums I could find (new or used) along with Vangelis, Kitaro, Jean Michel Jarre, Michael Garrison, etc. But my main group would be and still is Tangerine Dream. Sometime before 1989 I discovered Kit Watkins Azure. And I was taken into another direction. Thats when I fell out of TD as they were going in a different direction. It wasnt until the 90's when Edgar added vocals to TD when I completely stopped listening to the Dream. One night out in the middle of Mojave desert in SoCal I was camping out after a nice soak in Deep creek Hot Springs I heard on the radio Hearts of Space. They were playing Robert Rich, Steve Roach, etc. That was my first time hearing Roach and Rich's music. I have all of Steve's albums and most of Roberts along with Vidna Obmana and other ambient artist I have collected in the last ten years plus. My first Roach concert was at a coffee shop in Santa Monica back in 1997. Since then I've been to see Steve every year that he's played here in SoCal or I would drive or fly to see him perform live. A MUST. I am hoping to make it to this years Soundquest Fest in Tucson. More recently I've been discovering Between Interval, Redshift and others. There are just so many styles of ambient/electospace music out there. But my one passion for group is still Tangerine Dream. The last 5 years I've gotten back into the Dream. Flying across the Pond 3 times in the last three years to see Edgar and company perform live in London, Berlin and back to London this year to see TD perform at the historic Royal Albert Hall. TD is not the Dream it once was. But they are still putting out some good and not so good music after 40 years. For those who still listen to Tangerine Dream I would recomd their latest live album Zeitgest live at the Royal Albert Hall 2010 3cd set. A must. If anyone out there has any recommendations of new or old ambient artist please let me know. Thank you.
