I would suggest a simple one at first, to get the blowing through the hole to make a real note technique first. I got a simple metal flute (steel, nickle plated??) at a novelty store a few years ago. I got pretty good at it. Then this friend of my son had a real flute and he lent it to me, to see if I wanted to buy it. It was absolute hell on my wrists.
I've also got a didjeridu, a kazoo, and about half dozen harmonicas. Lots of fun, but not good enough to record.
I can play "the Odd Couple" on it yet sound like David Carradine in Kung Fu (R.I.P.)
I'd like to hear that.
