[Matthew Florianz] Music, links and more

Hi everyone,

It's been a while since my last update.

For the past five years I have been working (slaving?) away on a project called The Chronicles of Spellborn, a MMORPG for the PC. If you are not familiar with the term, it's a type of game where many people play in the same (persistent) world at the same time, competing with and helping each other. It has a great background story and you get to relive the entire history of the world so to speak, through so-called quests.
If you are interested in my sound work for that, it's a free download ( Unfortunately, the company that employed everyone went bankrupt so basically my work for the game is over. The game itself will live on and as it contains well over 15 hours of ambiences there's quite a chunk of my work to be found. It was quite interesting to be able to create moods, and have players wander through them, compared to an album where time (passing) governs what you hear.
Working on Spellborn proved far more time consuming than I would have thought, even though it's not commercially successful (the reviews where great) it's something to be proud of.

A video of work for the game can be found here:

And more material is available here:

And finally one of my personal favorites:

Heathen Harvest have just written what they experienced while listening to Maalbeek:

For the recently released Iphone game; Star Defense, I was asked to create background music and ambiences and sound effects. A video is available here:

You might have already read about the six new tracks I have made available for free. The can be played back with the integrated music player on the myspace page.

And since I touched upon the subject of Iphone, BLOOM is an application you should buy immediately if you have not yet done so.

Hope you're well,

Matthew Florianz

Will Maalbeek go to itunes like your other discography eventually?

I think it's not the case for Maalbeek, because when that was released, the company that takes care of releasing the music was no longer doing it through the "old" distribution channels.

I will however run your comment by them to see what we can do.

I have recently bought my first apple product and have since converted my entire cd collection to their format, it is superior to what I have been using in just about every way. So I understand it to be an interesting alternative to buying discs.

Thanks for the tip!
