Hi H,
thank you for your comments, very much appreciated. Here is the link to Ambientlive, although the website has been having problems loading in properly at the moment, Alternatively the CD is available on Ebay from UK seller:-   em_heaven   which is the Ebay presence of Ambientlive.

I haven't even heard the samples but am buying without hesitation.  First, that is a COOL-ASS name...Phobos, the mysterious oblong-shaped moon of Mars some Ufologists believe to be an artificial satellite base for aliens.  Remember the Mars probe that mysteriously lost contact just before a photo was taken of a long object speculated to have shot the probe to bits? There are photos from Russian space agency on the Internet, very strange.  Second, Ambientlive is a great label, everything they release is uniformly excellent.  I can't wait to get this one!

Hi drone on,
Again many thanks for your comments and I am sure John who runs the label will be very pleased about what you say about his label.  I'll have to check out those pictures you mentioned. What fascinates me about it is the huge Stickney crater, how can something be hit by something so large and survive!!!

P.

Postman delivers.

Wonderful, and is just as I imagined from your samples.
Lots of noire cascades within one long symphonic poem.

Thanks for the sharing.
Always searching for the darkness within.

Hi Phobos,

I've been giving this some deep listenings on the headphones, and this is one fantastic recording!  Definitely one of the best discs in the Ambientlive catalog from the quite a few that I have.  How can I find out more info. about you? I'd be interested to know what kind of gear you use, how long you've been making music, etc....I already know your influences from your MySpace page (Oophoi, Roach, etc.) To anyone reading this, if you enjoy deep space ambient this is an essential purchase, highly recommended.  Very reasonably priced as well, I might add (About $12 postage included).  Look forward to hearing more from you, Phobos!

Hi drone on,
First a very big thank you for your comments about the CD and for your support. I definately think headphones is the best way to listen to it, that way you can hear all the "things" in the Darkness.
I am using a mixture of hardware synths & samplers and software synths & samplers. For this CD I used a 1040 Atari computer with Midex plus, running Cubase 3.1, ( how about that for vintage gear!!!!!), this was also controlling my laptop via a midi to usb interface. On the laptop I was using VST host to load in the vsti's and effects and controlled them via the Atari.
I have now taken the "plunge" and retired the Atari and just use the laptop for recording which will involve recording my hardware stuff into the laptop. So the next CD should be an interesting learning curve for me.
Previously I have had released 3 cassette albums and 2 CDr albums. These were under the name of Dave Thompson and were in the style of general melodic/sequencer based stuff, very different to what I am doing now. The first cassette was released in 1991, the second again in 1991, the third in 1992.
The 2 cdrs were released in 1998 and 2000. These are all long deleted now.
9 years on, a different name, a different style and a new CD. Lots of reasons too numerous to go into here for the big gap, hopefully it won't be 9 years till the next one!!!!!
Once again many thanks for your comments and support, I hope this info has helped a bit.
Regards
