Star's End - Falling Into The Sky, this weekend
« on: January 18, 2008, 11:02:37 AM »
From Chuck van Zyl at Star's End
http://www.starsend.org
------------------------------------

The Circular Ruins (Anthony Paul Kirby) is exploring a personal
realm of assertive, emotional ambient music. A fascinating
series of electronic poems that invent a sonic sphere all their
own, FALLING INTO THE SKY (64'11") attempts to liberate the
mind of the listener from its own self-impression. As
soundscapes gradually shift and unfold, textures transform and
we linger easily within a wondrous soundworld. Synthesizer
pads churn behind fluttering atmospherics while further in a
digital wind stirs up strange cosmic debris. Narrative runs adrift
and the hiss and murmur of distant chords occupy the
foreground. Vibrating with energy, FALLING INTO THE SKY
inhabits the amorphous area between the earth's surface and
outer space, and continually reveals itself in revelations revealed
in repeat visits.

Tune in to STAR'S END this weekend for music from FALLING
INTO THE SKY by The Circular Ruins

That's great Anthony. You have some fine music there and I hope that through continued exposure more people will discover it as well as the other artists' works that you offer on your label and associated labels. Nice work!!!
Peace, Kirk

I've just been listening to The Ruins' Their Subtle Pupose at work this morning
and it's been helping me through Friday...  :)   Maybe I can pick up Falling Into The Sky
at the next PiNG and have my mind liberated from its own self-impression too!

Er... a great read? Hmmm... I can’t see “...continually reveals itself in revelations revealed in repeat visits” as being anything other than inelegant. That’d be maybe be my Inner Literary Critic rebelling, but hey... er... different strokes and all that... I guess...
Anyway, despite numerous listens to and considerable enjoyment of Anthony’s album, I regret to report, for what it’s worth, in particular to Scott, that the mind of this listener is still slavishly manacled to its own self-impression ;)

Thanks, Jonathan.

And Alan, I took a double-take on that line you quote ... but now find it quite charming. Reminds me of the Twin Peaks / Biosphere Substrata line "the mind revealing itself to itself ..." or somesuch thing.

However, its certainly time to shrug off the manacles of ego and self-delusion ... and crack open a good bottle of chardonnay! Its Friday  :P

Chuffin' 'eck Alan !

I'd say that there phrase were right elegant - does tha not get blokes's gist like ?
(I hear they speak proper funny in Brizzle)

Apologies to the US dudes for lapsing into ye olde northern English, but sometimes one simply has to.
Yup, Friday night is Chardonnay night too here in Flame acres.

If you proper English blokes (hey check that out, I said "blokes!") think we Murikans are speaking some kind of wrong-headed non-English, you should hear the way most-of-'em talk over in Philadelphia!  As William Shakespeare is to England, so is Chuck VanZyl to Phillytown.

Now, Mike, not all of us from Philly say "wuter" when we mean "water".  And not of us say "yous guys", either.

I thought "yous guys" was a Michigan thing. We say it all the time here.

We say "recession" and "unemployment" a lot lately too.
