I was listening to the new album yesterday or the day before and I liked it. I like the fact that you used acoustic sources only.

Thanks for the thumbs up on the music.

I also like that I can't remember how made some of the sounds, so they are unique to the album as i can't reproduce them.

Thanks for the support and interest everyone.

I know it is unfasionable but I am interested in what people experience when listening to the sounds/music and any thoughts or comments - either public or message are much appreciated.

Rusty at SomaFM is adding tracks from Andy's Fractured III - Shards to the rotation on Drone Zone and possibly other stations.  I'm pretty happy about that!   http://somafm.com/

That happens to me quite a bit too.

New release.
Fractured out now on Databloem (http://databloem.com/home/877-seren-ffordd-fractured.html) and Seren Ffordd Bandcamp page (https://serenffordd.bandcamp.com/album/fractured)

The first act of any musician is to break the silence.
Rending the quiet by pouring sound into the waiting space, as savagely as a lightning strike or as gently as an unfolding rose.
I was intrigued by this sense of breaking, of the Fracture where the front of the soundwave disturbs the silence, creating the ripples that transform the still surface of a pond, Scattering reflections like a Shattered mirror. This album came out of a wish to hear sound Split and Torn.
What would a sound sound like if the frequencies were Peeled apart like light in a rainbow, if tones or sections come at different times or from different parts of the stereo image? What would they sound like if their edges were Blurred, Curdled, Sliced - Merging into and out of each other?
The ideas, music, titles and art all grew from this seed. This Breaking of the silence emerged together, not as a whole - but as the infinite flashes of light reflecting off spinning shards of glass.
‘Fractured’, is a journey into Splitting, Melting and Tearing. Many of the sounds are unrecognisable. Some appear more than once, but Slivered, Hacked, Severed into different shapes and tones.
A few are heard as they occurred, a contrast to the Broken edges around them.
One track includes a severe recycling of a previously released piece of music – the only other non acoustic sound is heard at the end of the album.
The music is at times Slow, Complex, Noisy, Harsh – it is in places Beautiful, Dense, Spiky.
Sources include: bird wing, water, tin foil, drum, gongs, cardboard, bells, beads, dice, gourds, voice, glass, bone whistle and flute.
Recorded in the StarWeb studio between 2008 and 2013 with Roland VS2480, Korg D16, Korg MR1, TC M3000, Sony and Tascam minidisc recorders, Sennheiser and AKG microphones, Sonar 5.
Dedicated as ever to my wife, for her patience.
Fractured:
I – Near Silence – 10.00
II – A Heavy Bone – 10.00
III – Broken by the Desert Heat – 10.00
IV – In the Shadow of a Heron’s Wing
V - Under the Stark and Dreaming Tress – 10.00
VI - Nothing is not No Thing – 10.00
Fractured was originally finished in 2012 and it has been a long journey to its release. Many Thanks to Dennis at Databloem for releasing the music on his label.

Just picked this up. Quite a dense, swirling maze of cool stuff. Many long headphone journeys in here.
There is no spoon. Which sucks because I have a pudding cup.

Hi everyone,

Fractured II - 7 Broken Mirrors is now out on bandcamp, finally completing the trilogy.

https://serenffordd.bandcamp.com/album/fractured-ii-7-broken-mirrors

- pay what you want release that also includes all the original artwork for the intended but never materialised 3 disc limited edition.

The blurb:
Fractured II – 7 Broken Mirrors
Originally intended as the second part of the Fractured Trilogy, 7 broken Mirrors is a reworking of the first album into a long form piece.
It takes ‘Fractured’ and turns it in on itself.
The intention had been to create a Fractured limited edition 3 disc album with specific artwork for both the cover and cards detailing the thoughts behind each track. Similarly there had been a thought to create a number of versions of Fractured with all the same sounds, but mixed up in different places on the album, so listeners would be hearing different things to each other....
But it was some time trying to find a home for the first album (until Dennis at Databloem kindly picked up the release) and in the wait, life moved on and the momentum was unfortunately lost.
7 Broken Mirrors is offered as a free release with all the original artwork included.
If you do decide to have a go at printing it all off – I’d like to see any photos of it -  serenffordd@hypnos.com

Wow, over a year.....

It's been a year of change - what with moving house and friends dying it's been busy - lots of things I've been involved in have also changed...and I am just getting things back into gear for recording again.

Studio has been set up for a while and I've been tinkering with a piece that was on the go when we started looking for houses....uncertain what else I'll pick back up or whether to start with completely fresh.

I am working on getting some out of print and unreleased music onto Bandcamp

and the first is

https://serenffordd.bandcamp.com/album/aurora

music from two releases on Oophoi's Penumbra label in 2005 and 2006.

Recorded on very basic equipment - Aurora on a borrowed kids keyboard and Korg D-16 - no effects units or anything.
Gateway and The Portal's Dreaming was on a technics keyboard and the same D-16.
