[Dark Ambient/Ambient Mix] Spatium Somniorum III
« on: December 16, 2009, 05:03:52 PM »

40 tracks
3hrs of music

Each winter I take about 100-150 of some of my most beloved tracks from ambient, dark ambient and related genres and create a long mix out of some of them. I solely make those mixes for myself and maybe some friends, but now I think other people would be pleased to download those mixes as well.

As posting mixes is a legally gray area, I will not offer a download link directly, but if you participate in this thread I will send you a download URL.
I don't want to make this too easy for you so you will need to contribute an association to the association chain I will start now with the word "ice".
So the first user who wants to download needs to write one of his associations to "ice" into this thread. I will then send the link via private message. The next user will then need to write an association to the first user's association.

Example:
Start: ice
User1: water
User2: pirates
User3: gold
....

Go! :)

PS: Some feedback about the mix would be nice, too.

I think you have to "free associate" something having to do with whatever was last on the association chain, in this case "ice"

So you might say "vanilla" (Vanilla Ice)

Or you might say "Pat Benatar" (Fire and Ice... you come on like a flame, and then you turn the cold shoulder)

Just tryin' to keep it musical.

 ;)

Thanks Mike!
I've already sent Immersion a link anyway.

"Might" you say it or do you (means would you also like to have a link?)

Since I played the game and also helped explain it to others, I definitely deserve to receive a link!

I'll bite...

Ice > Pat Benatar (nice one) > Berlin (Pat B. did a duet with the singer from Berlin)

Is this how this is played?   ;D

I don't think you need to repeat the associations of your predecessors. Actually the idea for this came to me because on some other forums it is quite common to post "here", "give me the link to the mix" and so on. So I was thinking "hey let's make this a little bit more interesting".
Sometimes I have some very weird emotional associations. For example if I listen to a specific part in a specific song, I always have to think of a certain person (not even a good friend in this case) who has absolutely nothing to do with the song. Or whenever I read a particular sentence in a paper I wrote, I have to think of a moment when I was walking through a specific street (which again has absolutely nothing to do with it).
Guess that's why people call me crazy ;)

Whatever.. sent you the link, SD.

As far as "ice" goes, they were a great dub outfit back in the day, especially the "Under The Skin" disc.  Included members of God/Godflesh.  Another relation would be the impending ice/sleet mix that should arrive here sometime tonight, makes traveling a bit difficult.

All sounds very interesting  8) and no public link to increase my interest more. Ice ay?

Ice, ice, ice.....Cream? Oh god I have been with my GF too long if that's the best I can do. I am sure when I was younger I would have thought of other words like frozen, bleak, melt, black or thin or some other images like siberian rivers, fossils encased in ice or even a frozen lake with kids skating on it. But no, now the first image is ice-cream  :(

for Berlin I for some reason think of Munich  ???

You think too much ;)
I was simply thinking of everybody posting just one word/thought.. and the next one posts an association to that word and so on.
Anyway.. just sent out the links.

Sorry for the delay. Had been a busy weekend /Saturday and I just came back home from some mad party.. it's 6am here in Germany now.

Ice Cream....

My Grandfather used to sing a song that went 'I scream, you scream, we all scream for Ice Cream'

so my word association is....

Grandfather....

Sent you the link. Haha funny song from your grandfather :)
We already had covered the "ice" association, but this didn't really work out as expected, so I now created an example in the initial post.

Seren associated "grandfather", so let's continue with that.

If you think this way of posting a mix is stupid, you might be right ;)

I've had this mix on all day; so far I'm liking what I hear.  There's a lot going on, this'll take some time to fully digest...
