Thanks for posting this.  I've been curious to hear these for some time, and certainly didn't want to pay "collector's prices" for them.

Plus, I've been looking to try out a cool new hair style, and it seems Wolfgang's got one going on, there!

Here's another subtly different styling suggestion, Mike. Note the teeth too ;D

I'm a little embarrassed for him, based on that.

Nice little blog article offering an introduction to/guided tour of all four GAS albums here:

That blog gives a good overview. I have some Gas tracks on Em:t (Instinct) comps but have never had any complete albums. The compilations were never heavy on detailed information about the artist so it's nice to learn a little more. And it turns out the Em:t artist Gas is a different one than Wolfgang! I'll have to check out this stuff.

Yep, the German GAS (Wolfgang Voigt - released on Mille Plateaux) and the British GAS (Mat Jarvis - released on em:t) are understandably often confused. The music is quite different, though, as you'll hear from visiting Mat Jarvis's myspace http://www.myspace.com/microscopics and by checking this youtube link which is a vid backed by a track by Mat's GAS:

I'm more of a Wolfgang man than a Mat man, but Mat's stuff has been quite highly regarded in its time and would probably be more up the average Hypnos-forumite's street than Wolfgang's eerie post-techno drone-loop experiments, for a sample of which try this link:

So it sounds like Jonathan has Gas, but it's the wrong kind of Gas.

Wow, I had no idea these albums were out-of-print and so hard to get. I was able to buy all four back in '02 at a regular price. Gas makes for fun driving music, and the occasional down-tempo bass-heavy listening when I know the neighbors aren't home (Gas is generally a 4/4 subwoofer workout). I imagine Gas being the soundtrack to an unmade David Fincher film, if that makes any sense. I'm glad to see this stuff will be re-issued soon. By all means, grab it, you'll enjoy it.
There is no spoon. Which sucks because I have a pudding cup.

Wow, good stuff. Thanks for the link Alan. I'll have to seek out some more.

And yes Mike, I had the wrong Gas, but as my grandmother used to say "don't hold it in; better to bear the shame than bear the pain."

And certainly good to see these Voigts reissued.
But I've just noticed that I don't have the self-titled first one .. which is odd 'cause I play the other 3 fairly regularly.

Hmmm...  strangely, I've never heard of this Gas fellow, but I'll definitely have to do some exploring.

No, but she could play a mean game of mahjongg.

Hot damn, this is great news.  I have the original four Gas releases and they are great favorites of mine.  I hope they rerelease a lot of the harder to find tracks that did not appear on these CDs (like the tracks on the vinyl releases and stuff like that).  I managed to snag a copy of the "Oktember" 12" in olden days, but I never could get the rest of his stuff on Profan, etc.
