Forum Suggestion (Gear Thread)
« on: January 24, 2008, 12:45:57 AM »

Ever thought of having a "Gear Head" section in the forums?  I notice a lot of the gear threads are peppered throughout this section (everything and nothing).  Just a suggestion.

You are right, a section under this Wide Wide World called "Gear: Recording & Playing" or something like that to keep all gear posts together.

Yeah - that actually would be a good thing.   I have to do a 'search' to find old posts to bump them to the top.   We'll see what good ole' Hypnos boss Mike things about it.  ;)   I know one of his goals is to not have too many sections - but this one seems a good one to me.

I'm happy to move the threads if he decides to create the section.

Are you talking about a sub-section, like within "Everything and Nothing" there would be an area for gear-related topics?  Or do you mean a whole, separate group or area, outside "Everything and Nothing."  I guess I prefer the first to the second but maybe "sub-sections" would be confusing, too.

Whichever makes the most sense/easiest to maintain for you...  we're walking the fine line of too many sections vs. finding the right threads.

I like the idea of Everything and Nothing have it all in it - but 'gear' as a section also makes sense due to the high number of gear loving folks in the forum...

In the Wide Wide World section there would be :

Everything and Nothing
Gear & Equipment
Free For All
www.dataobscura.com
www.dataobscura.com/apk
The Circular Ruins / Lammergeyer / Nunc Stans

OK, that new area has been created and I'm moving gear-related topics into it now.

OK, I think that's all of 'em, but JKN and APK can feel free to move any others that I missed.

Those who are navigation-challenged, to find the new area, return to the Forum's front page, and look for the area called:

"Gear Talk: Music Gear, Recording Gear, Computer Gear"

Or, if you can't find it, here's a direct link to that area:

Okay, that was way too fast for comfort.

Thx to Mr. Griffin for the super-human effort.  I only suggested it since I'm a big gear-head and something told me that a lot of other folks here are too (mostly from viewing the studio pics thread).

Now that's a moderator!

I gonna post there now.

I figure all the gear-related stuff is very interesting to some people, and not at all interesting to others, so it makes sense to move it.

When I get back from our current travels (we're in Sacramento right now, about to drive to Lake Tahoe in a few hours), I'll be posting a bunch of stuff in that new gear area myself!

Hey Mike,
Ah, Sacramento, my old hometown. I understand that it has been raining like crazy there and that the Tahoe area is receiving a lot of snow. Safe travels.
Peace, kirk
