COLONIES OF MARS(free download) by TRENCH
« on: December 11, 2009, 03:54:04 AM »
Hello everyone ,my name is Trench and i have been a musician for over 30 years playing everything from big band jazz to punk.
I currently have 4 free download albums available for you.

Depending on the feedback that is received i may post the other 3 at a later date.

The music is a mixture between ambient and soundtrack with a little psychedelic thrown in for good measure.

Here is the 1st................................

COLONIES OF MARS by TRENCH           http://www.mediafire.com/?5wzyhkyrdxd

Part one   Upon arrival
Part two   Main theme (for Claudia)
Part three Red brothel
Part four   Dusts of Xaaxis
Part five   Solartrain
Part six   Interior campfire dance
Part seven Keeriehay
Part eight  Claudias song
Part nine    Chorale coral
Part ten    Once were tribes
Part eleven  A colony is born

It is one continuous piece of music,a soundtrack to an imaginary western set on Mars.

Best listened to on headphones as there is quite a bit going on in the background.

As i say depending on the feedback thre is more to come 8)

Enjoy..............IT'S FREE         http://www.mediafire.com/?5wzyhkyrdxd

Trench,  you might want to post at least one short mp3 sample clip so people can see whether they want to bother downloading the whole album, even if it is free.

As recommended by our good friend mgriffin here is a short example of the type of music i create.....................
only 5 minutes long ;D

REQUIEM FOR TALES OF THE RIVERBANK by  TRENCH     http://www.mediafire.com/?m1n2gmmzqkz

It is an early piece, but quite representative of what i am producing at the moment, only now i m using better instrumentation and production equipment.

Thanks for giving it a go,if you like it please download.................

I guess that's better than nothing, but most people would probably prefer a direct link to an mp3 file they could play in their web browser, rather than a mediafire-hosted WMA file.  The point of my suggestion is to give people a quick and convenient way to determine if this is something they might enjoy.  I've never heard of Trench and have no idea what kind of music this is.  I try to give at least a quick listen to most of the stuff people post here but without some kind of description (for all I know this could be country & western music with a heavy emphasis on distorted accordion) or a clickable/streamable mp3 sample, I'll just pass this by, though others may give it a listen.

Please let me assure you this is far from country and western, but there is some treated accordian(you must have had a sneaky listen mcGriffin,to know that ;D)

As i said before the music varies between ambient soundscapes, film soundtrack and psyche. I have tried to incorporate conventional instruments ((guitars, fretless bass,harmonica.............and yes delayed accordian) to achieve the sound of Eno crossed with Ennio Morricone 8)

If anyone could please tell me how to upload a streamable mp3 sample it would be much appreciated. ;)

At the end of the day i am a musician firstly, whilst trying to come to terms with computer technology :-\

The music i create is really electronic, with a few embellishments.

If you have your own website and a host that allows for streaming - you can simply
upload an mp3 to your root directory or into a folder called "mp3s" or "audio" or "whatever".
Try to use underscores or dashes in the file titles as spaces can sometimes cause problems.
128kps is a good choice for streaming under most circumstances.

Then, on a forum like this, you can simply post the path to the file and it will probably
become playable or at least downloadable with a right-click (or Mac equivalent). ie:
http://www.dreamstate.to/audio/stone_and_sky.mp3

Try testing it by sending yourself the link in an e-mail and clicking and right-clicking it
to see what happens. If you don't have any luck, sites like MySpace or SoundClick
can host individual files for streaming and though you usually can't post a straight link
to the file in the forum, it's still fairly easy to browse your mp3s.

Anyway - that's how I work things though I'm sure there's alternatives. Good-luck!
