kraftwerk BBC Interview
« on: January 18, 2010, 11:39:20 PM »
Interesting 1 hour program on Kraftwerk,as well as Neu ! etc... Current interviews with Ralf Hutter,Bowie,New Order taped a few weeks ago.Though there seems to be not much talk about Kraftwerk here on the forum, there would be no popular electronic or ambient music without them, period.
google or go to bbc.co.uk-bbc iplayer console

Kraftwerk ruled early electronica along with Tangerine Dream but Sorry - I don't buy that one Mate.

Although I used to use the last track on Ralf & Florian as sleep music, along with Zeit, in the pre-ambient-defined days,
I think it was more of an anomaly amongst their works.

I agree,Kraftwerk did not invent ambient (or modern ambient) but what I meant was; inspired those who did make their mark on early ambient, such as Eno (for instance working with Bowie on Low,which in turn influenced every new wave artist in some way). With their sounds and ideas, partially from Ralf & Florian, but also Autobahn and Radioactivity. Now an artist making ambient in 2009 might say he was influenced by Namlook in 1994 but for the origins,I think Kraftwerk were the most influencial as a package on ALL electronic music.
