Beta Test Drum Machine for Ableton Live 8

Apparently it''s out now already per the blipdrums webpage. I was hoping for a 2nd round after his fixes but that's ok. He did testing on MAC platforms himself. Too by my buddy didn't get a chance to mess with it before he put it out (not that it would have made a big difference). Good luck with it though either way on sales/purchases!

so this is working 100% on mac? i know I could build something similar as I already have the free blip drums... what (besides the painstaking process of building such a COOL rack) is different?

I'm thinking about purchasing just because.. even though I CAN build something.. I want to get strait to creating rhythms and I always get locked up in sound design on just the drums..or a rack.. or an effect.. then maybe some bass.. and then the track just sounds bad and start over.. never proceeding lol. maybe this can help?

also is useable live on an 09 macbook pro? i would think... whats the typical cpu %?


oh yeah.. HI!! super glad to find this forum.. hopefully I can learn some stuff about one of my new favorite types of aural bliss.

Hi,

I assume it's working fine on the MAC but he didn't have much time to test it out. If it works on the PC I would expect the behavior to be the same on the MAC with no issues.  I have yet to figure out racks so I fully understand what's going on and how to set one up from scratch. A good video tutorial would be great for it because of how much complexity you can do to it. I love the expansion to a mixer setup as well in it and other racks for each track so you can adjust each individually as needed. But again, I have not delved deeply into this. I'd love to learn them more so I could come up with some racks to share.

As for working on an '09 MAC I would think that would be just fine, but not owning one can't say for sure. My buddy has an older MBP and it works fine with Live.

Live worked just fine on my iBook G3 back in 2001, so I'm sure it will run fine on any modern Mac.

What version are you running now? Did you get the Suite as well when you updated (if you updated)?

No, I haven't updated (and so never did get to test out Saul's drum machine) -- still running 7.

I would check with Saul but I believe it should work fine in Live 7 since it's a drum rack which is part of Live 7.

I did check with him and at the time he said it wouldn't work except in the newest version, which I still haven't bought yet (and may just skip).

Oh ok then. Perhaps it is something that is specific to Live 8 but not sure what since racks have been in since either version 6 or 7. So I would have thought that it would work in Live 7.
