Reminds me of how I watched season 2 of 24 on DVD in two days!

Speaking of recent Lost episodes, it seems like we're alternating great episodes with good episodes.  Last night was good... highlight was seeing Libby again.

Will any other TV in the remainder of human history ever again dare to use the "character gets overconfident handling dynamite and blows the shit out of themselves" shocker not once, but TWICE?

Wayne... be warned that season 2 is a bit of a downer for a lot of reasons (ABC told 'em to streeeettttccchhh it out - we gots us a hit!)... but it kicks back in soon enough.  Trust me!

LOL!

Yes - the Hugo/Libby story line was very nice.

Desmond as the super secret agent getting the Losties to meet and mind meld is fun to see.

Desmond getting the talking to by Ben in the car?  That was hilarious.

Desmond running over Locke... wow.  Didn't realize that was coming.

Flocke giving Hugo his knife... ummm...   hello...   ok - I'm the smoke monster and I can toss any of you half way across the jungle, but if it'll make ya feel better - here's my knife which won't hurt me in the slightest... but it's a nice gesture and all.   Oh Jack!   Hey - didn't see ya back there.  Let's stare at each other while the LOST logo pops up on screen.   Cheers, mate.

Hey - I'm getting this weird feeling that Sayid may have hit rock bottom in his whole I'm a shell of a man and just going to kill people until someone finally kills me...  I'm wondering if he's going to find himself after all.   I could be wrong.   The hint in next weeks preview (with the 2nd reference to Willy Wonka for the night on ABC - first one was on Dancing with the Stars) - I don't know - it looks like Sayid is going to help Des out of the well.   Of course - I could be wrong.

Lost next week is a repeat of the Richard story.

Wired has a very nice article on Lost you might want to check out.   Some people are squawking that the photo of Lindlehof and Cuse reveals something about the coming epidodes... but c'mon... they've tossed fake info out there before.  I would bet there's a healthy mix of a few real clues and a ton of false leads just for fun.

I'm really afraid of stumbling onto a spoiler at this point, so I'm trying not to read anything like that Wired article.  It's more fun to enjoy the surprises as they occur onscreen, with only 4 episodes left!

The wired article is perfectly cryptic...  Lindlehoff and Cuse dodge all questions and answer questions with things that seem kinda relevant, but still don't actually *say* anything... :-)

The photo is fun - lots of cool stuff in there.  I don't think it'll spoil a thing honestly.

I could be wrong of course.

Yes, but... if you wade through a bunch of potential spoilers you won't know if you've seen something that might actually ruin it (you know, they're called "spoilers" for a reason) until it's too late to un-see it.  So I stay away from that stuff for the next month or so.

I'm almost done with season 2.  We've decided we're going to take a break from it after tonight.  We recently got a few movies ("Mr. Fox", "Avatar", a couple of old Sherlock Holmes movies, and "Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans" which I've been wanting to see).

I have this thought that the last episode will end with J.J. Abrams coming on camera and thanking all the viewers for helping with the experiment, the show itself is a study on how many people will watch a show for 6 years that is totally confusing.
So, I'm a "Sr Member", huh?  In June it's SENIOR DISCOUNT TIME!!!

We're all in our private hatches... compiling information... putting our thoughts in vaccuum tubes going nowhere...

Side note - just started rewatching the pilot ... could the music be any better?   No.

(A bit off topic, but it fits here)

So I finally watched "Avatar" last night.  I told my son  "Visually spectacular, Cameron is a genius.  Too bad the story seemed like a middle school kid wrote it."  He said "He wrote it.  When he was 12."

Yep.  He's a genius.

I'll probably end season two tonight.  When I saw the "?" center observation room, the whole thing became silly.  But then again, so is life. ;D

Keep going on Lost - yes it meanders a bit - especially in season 2 and early season 3... but then they get ABC to commit to a firm end date for the series and the writers get to start putting their energy in propelling the story forward instead of ssttttreeeettttccchhhininnnnngggg it out like ABC execs were wanting with their new cash cow.

The single worst episode may be the Nikki and Paolo episode (it's called "expose" I think)... however - once you're past that...  no worries... the mediocre episodes get fewer and far between.

The 'Wired' article just confirms what I've suspected all along: There is no over-arching structure they've had in place since the beginning, no five-year plan. They make it up as they go along. Not that it can't have a structure, it's just not some grand plan they've been working on. But, since I got burned on The X Files, I'm always going to be a bit more cynical about any show that purports to have a 'mythology.'
There is no spoon. Which sucks because I have a pudding cup.

Crap, crap, crap....  :'(

That's all I have to say about last night's episode.

My biggest question so far is "Why did the polar bears leave island "A" and swim to island "B"?

Lena - I'm in total agreement.  Heidi and I totally saw the backpack switch... and knew something was coming, but didn't know *that* was coming!

I've been rewatching season 1...  so many things I've realized have been tied back to season 1 that I'm a little surprised by them.

Yeah...  but then again, nobody seems to really die, depending on what timeline you look at.

That was my reaction last night.  I feel like the show has tweaked our expectations sufficiently that I found myself almost without emotion at the Sun/Jin scene, not really believing it was "real" in some vital way.  That's the risk storytellers run in making every story event (especially character deaths) turn into some kind of shocking reversal, fake-out, or switcheroo.

I've suspected for several seasons that nobody was really dying; the cavalier way Ben and the others would shoot people never seemed evil or cold-blooded, it seemed more casual, like they knew the victim wasn't really dead.  Even the 'dead' people seemed to shrug it off, like when they appeared to Hurley.

So, if the people are now 'dying' on the island, maybe it ties up a loose end cosmically, since they were also 'alive' in the real world timeline.  Now there is just one of each of them, so maybe they can stay in the real world?

I have this fear as well.

Alias blew its ending horribly as did X-Files...I really hope LOST is different...
