« on: March 19, 2010, 12:47:25 PM »
Now available from DataObscura:

The Circular Ruins : Invisible Cities
A lush and addictive collection of ambient journeys and landscapes inspired by the
incomparable novel Invisible Cities by Italo Calvino. These works exhibit the rich
organic complexity, occasional curious rhythms, and deft developments we have
come to expect from The Circular Ruins. This is music for sonic immersion ... and for
the imagination.

Composed and performed by Anthony Paul Kerby (Canada) using a variety
of synthesisers and effects, with occasional field recordings.
Piano on What's Left Behind by Angela Weiser.

Should mention that the track from Invisible Cities is the second one
on the Radio playlist. The first is from the new Pleq album.

Always happy to have any feedback on what you hear.

I'd like to congratulate Anthony on a job well done, for creating this spacious and ethereal masterpiece. As surreal and as perfect as a dream.

The download won't do it justice, you must get the actual disc. It's like taking a ride in a hot air balloon on a warm and sunny morning.

My copy of Anthony's latest came over the weekend, and I've been enjoying it as well.  It has a really nice depth of texture and feeling.  Definitely a headphones album, in a good way.

Anthony,

Was listening to it again, and the first part especially reminded me of Wendy Carlos' "Sonic Seasonings," though your take is more lush.  Again, well done.

Thanks again, Forrest.
I don't know the Sonic Seasonings release but went off to her excellent site and heard some samples ... I think I hear what you mean. An interesting album. And an interesting site. People might enjoy taking a look around. Lots of photos and info.

I'm impressed by the samples, especially the first track, to add this to my
Circular Ruins collection.  We Carry Them With Us When We Leave is
almost not-quite ambient  with a gentle melody.  I can't wait to hear the full
track.

though your take is more lush.

This recently invisible fan has been out of the loop this year dealing with family
matters.  Browsing through the Hypnos news yesterday and  "lush" kept
popping out.   Is  it the latest buzzword or fashion in ambient circles (not
necessarily ruined)?
