I'm really glad we don't discuss politics here anymore.  I, like many people, am amazed at the comments about stories on CNN, MS-NBC, even local newspaper websites.  Even the name "The United States of America" is becoming an oxymoron.

I think it's becoming a nation of Archie Bunkers and Hunter Thompsons.  I am so glad I never watch TV.
So, I'm a "Sr Member", huh?  In June it's SENIOR DISCOUNT TIME!!!

No applause!  But seriously, there was a time when I used to dread what I'd find posted on this Forum every morning.  I was threatening to ban people left and right, deleting posts at least once per week, editing posts almost every day.  Ugh, that was awful.

I'd rather have this Forum be a bit less active, but free from the caustic nastiness that already pervades so much of the internet.  Anybody who wants to read about how a given politician is worse than Hitler only has a million other places online to read about it, not to mention talk radio and cable TV.

I'll try to let people discuss slightly controversial topics as long as everyone behaves.  The Michael Moore Capitalism: A Love Story topic probably came close to going over the line, but at least there was no overt nastiness.  Overall, though, it's probably better if we stick to talking about music, movies, books, and how we all want to lose weight!

Why, that's the stupidest bunch of bullsh...  what kind of IDIOT would say someth...  er...  never mind.   ::)

I agree, it's nice an peaceful here.  I frequent some other boards - two of which have almost NO moderators - and the crap that gets posted there is incredible.  I like this place - it's like stepping into a library from a noisy street.  Ahh....   ;D

"it's like stepping into a library from a noisy street.  Ahh....  "

That's great.

I think we sure do indeed need places of peace and reasonable
discussion to ward off the usual "me me me ..." and  mindless
unthinking antagonism of much of the unfiltered internet.

Of course, there are times I wish it was a little more active.... less lurking, more posting.... not just posting, but creating new topics!
