I haven't posted anything on here in a long time. Here's what I've gotten so far this year, not much ambient I'm afraid, mostly older stuff that I haven't had in decades, all are CD except were noted:

Peter Michael Hamel - Colours of Time/Bardo
Eberhard Schoener - Bali Agung  (CD & DVD)
Morton Subotnick - Electronic Works 3 (DVD)
Gentle Giant - Giant for a Day
Gentle Giant - Interview
Gentle Giant - Missing Piece
Kula Shaker - K
Popol Vuh - Werner Herzog Soundtracks boxset
Pink Floyd - Relics
Pink Floyd - The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn
Biosphere - N-Plants
Richard Pinhas - Event & Repetitions
Richard Pinhas - Schizotrope: Life & Death of Marie Zorn
Richard Pinhas - Metal/Crystal
Richard Pinhas - L'Ethique
Heldon - Interface
Heldon - Agneta Nilsson
Gloria Cheng - Piano Music of Salonen, Stucky & Lutoslawski
Gloria Cheng - Piano Music of John Adams & Terry Riley

I bought Gloria's stuff mainly because I work with her and I thought I would nice to support a fellow artist.
Take care.

My favorite Gentle Giant albums are Free Hand, In a Glass House and Octopus.  I saw them open for Renaissance in the mid-70s and they were pretty amazing.

I have that Gloria Cheng CD of John Adams and Terry Riley piano pieces--I like her rendition of Adams' Phrygian Gates.

Yeah I love Gentle Giant, I got into them kind of late but they have grown on my over the years. They just released most of their albums all remastered for CD for the first time, so I bought these three that I didn't have to see how they sound.

I like Gloria, she's pretty cool, and is one of the few here in the music school that actually likes modern music, most of the instructors here are pretty traditional, which is pretty funny as a lot of them seem to be jealous of her getting so much work written for her. I think her also winning a Grammy a couple of years ago might also have something to do with it. ;)
Take care.

I found a near-mint copy of the original "Epsilon in Malaysian Pale" CD by Edgar Froese for $15 in a record store.  This was near impossible to find and if you did find one the prices were ridiculous!  I realize Virgin just came out with the Froese solo box set, where the solo albums were remastered.  This is probably why somebody sold their original.  I still don't think this would de-value the original CD, though, do you?

After recently getting over my fear of downloads, I went crazy on the DiN label download releases (DinDDL):

Ian Boddy-The Final Question, Three Dreams, Mechanics of a Thought (sort of a triptych of individual releases)
Ian Boddy/Bernhard Wostheinrich-Hemispheres (double album)
ARC-Rise
Ian Boddy-Strange Attractors

All live recordings from various concerts like Bochum Planetarium, Awakenings, and Star's End.  All excellent, all as good as anything quality wise DiN has released! Highly recommended...

Also, got a couple tracks off the "Lost in the Humming Air" tribute album to Harold Budd.  I didn't care for most of it, but the two I downloaded are excellent--one is by Porn Sword Tobacco (ugly name, beautiful music).

And then there's Bruno Sanfilippo's ultra-amazing "Urbs" which I am formulating a review for.  This review will be filled with a plethora of complimentary adjectives like "superb," "incredible," etc. etc......

Manuel Gottsching-Inventions for Electric Guitar CD (2011 remaster).  What a great album, a classic.

Manuel Gottsching-E2E4 (30th Anniv.).  Another classic.

Roedelius-Wasser Im Wind CD (reissue).  Some nice, trippy electronics on here.  This one is supposed to be one of his best solo works.  I need a good couple of headphone listens.

I don't know about the monetary valuing but a remastering doesn't guarantee an album will sound better. Sometimes they sound worse.
Sometimes different people will prefer different remasters (on classic albums that get remastered every few years).

On a "tangent" I remember hearing (an early CD master) of Phaedra, turned up loud on my first CD player and being thrilled that I could now clearly hear the tape hiss from the Echoplex.  I wonder if they've removed the hiss in later remasters.   ;)
