Born in Hemsedal, Norway, in 1961, Erik Wllo has been a professional artist since 1980. His musical experience covers a wide range of styles, from rock and jazz to experimental electronic and classical music. Best known for his unique and personal electronic ambient music, Wllo has composed music for films, theater, ballets, exhibitions and for large orchestras. As a guitarist, he has lead groups who've played at clubs, concert halls and festivals throughout Europe, the USA, and Canada. From his Wintergarden Studio, he has amassed a solid discography of recordings that seem to capture the lush serenity & expansive beauty of his environs while remaining utterly devoid of most understood Western influences.

Working with artists as diverse as Steve Roach, Bernhard Wostheinrich, Frank van Bogaert, and Deborah Martin seems to both enhance & augment Wllo's own sensate abilities. A well-respected multi-instrumentalist, on equal footing whether he's manning either guitar or synthesizer, Wllo creates music that is passionately lyrical and melodious, yet a mosaic-like rhythmic structure imbues much of his work with the same supple grace (for evidence, refer to his one-off ambient techno outing as Exile). His intuitive processes successfully integrate various modes of music, be they pop, rock or classical, into an often-unclassifiable mixture of "ethnic" & electronic fundamentals, an occasionally cinematic tableaux of sounds that are convincing and aurally satisfying. This is no better displayed than on his most recent recording, the brilliant & sonically gorgeous Gateway (Projekt), perhaps his most vivid work to date. Live, Wllo conducts his varied aural palette with a craftsman's invisible touch.

Only one week until Erik's Northeast New Jersey debut, where he will no doubt open his aural Gateway directly into the OTP listening space. Hope to see you here!
