My wife has suffered from some health issues, and just recently in the last few months she's turned to some of the more 'esoteric' of treatments, things that I've been into for quite some time. I've been an ambient fan for a long time, but before that she was lukewarm at best, maybe liking the occasional album.
We play a lot of softer or lighter ambient now in the house and she listens to it now while I do reiki treatments on her and other stuff. We've listened to Alio Die, Robert Rich, Thom Brennan and some of the earthmantra artists together, even stuff like Oophoi's Mare Imbrium. Along that path she also has discovered sound vibrational healing and so forth, and she's been listening to our figurative neighbor, the Boulder CO native Jonathan Goldman, and similar artists. I remember Jim Brenholts frequently sung his praises as someone who's categorized as new age but 'crosses over' with the hardcore ambient fans.
It's odd that it happened this way, but now there's more healing-type music playing in the house than ever before. Another piece in the puzzle of an ambient family in the making...
