Maybe just a simple "promotion" forum...   and ask everyone to post about latest releases there.

Combine music discussion and everything and nothing?   Just brainstorming.

And, Bill, whether you're reviewing music or not - how could you possibly not have something to offer?   This forum is not 100% about music - and most of us are friends (virtual ones at least!  which frankly - seem to be more 'real' to me than ones I see face to face...) - so keep stopping back regardless.

Oh, and... welcome back, Bill.

I don't think any of us want to make this place over-polite, but the extreme stuff going down here a few years ago was driving a lot of people away. I'd rather have things a little on the boring side than forum members threatening each other, and receiving a half dozen complaints from members every day.

Maybe there's a way we can allow a little more leeway with "controversial" subjects and debates, without letting things degenerate?  What do people think?

Ya know, I wasn't even talking about controversial topics...I hate talking politics/religion online. But I do think passionate debate about the arts is a good thing. If a person can't talk about music, movies, books and get heated about it without resorting to name calling, that person needs to calm down. That goes both ways. If someone doesn't like the same music, movies, books, etc. I do, so what? But, OTOH, I still remember, much to my embarrassment, being chided in rec.music.newage by David Hassell back in the late '90s when I trashed Vangelis! (chuckle). Seems like a lifetime ago. I still think the ole Greek is over-rated, but I don't need to throw in a "fuck vangelis" like I did back then. Yeesh...what a hothead I was.

Anyway, I agree with you, Mike. No need to descend to the level of hatred and threats...and if you don't agree with me, you better lock your doors!   ;)
May the odds be ever in your favor.

Ironically, it seems that asking the question "What can we do to liven this place up?" is all that's necessary to liven the place up.  So simple.
