The CR releases that had problems with cracking have a metal post that the disc is pressed onto. The metal is not flexible enough and every time you put the disc into the case or take it out, it puts stress on the hole in the disc. Lots of people have reported radial cracks starting from the hole in their CR discs, and I'd really recommend either keeping the disc in an envelope inside the case (not on the metal post), or at least making a CDR backup that you keep somewhere safe.

I see.

I've got a batch of those Chain Reaction and the Basic Channel CD tin - and yeah - it was so hard to get the darn discs out the first time  I never put them back inside!   I found out much later there was a cracking problem - luckily I'd already yanked them.

I have the Steve Roach "slab 'o slate" edition of Early Man - I've told the story of nearly breaking my toe on it a number of times on the forum when I left it on the floor in my studio one time.

I have a bunch of limited edition depeche mode 12" from back in the day - not really rare - just limited.   Also have a limited Cabaret Voltaire 7" release from teh later 80's or maybe 1990 - which had a series of postcards in it from their earlier 80's videos.

Actually it's currently in a tub with a bunch of cd's and cassettes from my studio ... it'll go back in but I'm not sure where yet.   We took down two walls of shelves...  :-)

Yep - all mine were ruined.  I have backups on CDR, except for Biokenetics, which was too far gone to rip.  Cool design, poor execution.

Kraftwerk's The Catalogue

mystified

I just obtained a copy of this:

http://www.discogs.com/Rapoon-Mykel-Boyd-Split/release/2833569

It's new Rapoon on white vinyl, only 100 pressed, with 2 art prints signed by Mykel Boyd.

I am actually selling mine, if anyone is interested, at Discogs. I have never played it. I played the more common, black case version and will keep that one.

Cool for fans of rare Rapoon stuff.

Agree, Bill. That KW box is incredibly sexy, even though I already own all the music.

I'm holding out rebuying KW until surround versions are available.
BTW - The surround mix on their live dvd is excellent!
