Thanks, John -- I appreciate the signal boost.

I haven't been writing my entire life. I dropped it for the first three years of college, then there was a fifteen year gap starting around the time I started Hypnos.

In my teens I wanted to be Harlan Ellison or Stephen King, and in my twenties I wanted to be F. Scott Fitzgerald or Ernest Hemingway. Now I'm not sure who I want to be!

I'll go over to RM and take a look. Thanks again.

Cynthia = Synthetic? Synthesizer?

Interesting story Michael. Kind of creepy.

I went over to RM and tried to log in and it seemed to indicate that I didn't have an account -- though I know I did. So I created a new account, and it had all my old "friends" from the old account. Wacky old Ning.

Jesse, you're the first person to comment on her name. In earlier drafts (this story literally went through at least two dozen revisions) she was called "Cynth" about half the time. I decided that was too "on the nose" and drew it back a bit.

ok all your life was a stretch.

I found the story to have a bit of a dark twist to it and I liked it.  A couple of things made me squirm a bit - but yet again - I liked how it built up.  I hadn't seen what Electric Spec had written about it until afterwards - and that really perfectly fits...

It also evokes Cygnet (a young swan).    8)
