This doesn't rhyme with ambient and so may disqualify me, but...

When Viridian Sun was a brand new entity, we coined the phrase "BoreCore," which was minimal drone music actually intended to be especially boring... not evolving other otherwise worthy of attention, rather a genre of recorded actually intended to be boring.

That's not to say Viridian Sun chose to pursue that angle... not intentionally anyway!

Often confused with Skambient and Shambient is:

Wankient, a strain of music produced by the untalented but persistent.

Clambient is also a favourite at west coast seafood tasting functions.

Good fun!

way back when the first forum was still in diapers we had a thread about jeff pearce noodling in the dark. this lead to a rather lengthy discussion of a new sub-genre of ambient - pornbient. i believe that we eventually defined it as soundtracks for people having sex very sloooooooooooooooooooowly.

and of course, there are these variations:
whambamthankyoumaambient for folks who preferred quickies
hambient for pigs
islambient for folks of a particualr middle eastern religion
scambient - a form of fake ambient
tambient for scots
zambient for people who drive machines that clean up skating rinks
fambient for families
gambient for ladies with nice legs
nambient for vientnam vets
greeneggsandhambient or iamsamiambient for dr seuss
pambient for ms anderson
rambient for folks who drive dodge trucks or fans of the football team from st louis
yambient for those who like sweet potatoes
dambient for people who live near hoover

Someone once called my music "gambient," a cross between gamelan and ambient.

Sandbient - ambient music made by sanders.
blandbient - I think this one is obvious.  ;D
Take care.

Sounds like what we should put on our Web sites to describe ourselves!
