I've only been a co-owner for a month now - but I'll tackle that question.  :)

James was releasing FLAC files on some of his releases - we're probably not going to continue that (at least it's not in our current plans).   We're releasing all downloads as high quality 320 kbps mp3's.   We're planning on certain releases coming out as CDR's, but our primary release will be mp3's for the immediate future.

Down the road we're talking about releasing uncompressed files for download.  It would be nice if we could get .iso disc images to work - that's a big "we'll see" issue.   Another option would be to release .wav files, however, the .iso image would be better because it contains the track info, crossfades, etc...

If there were more convenient options for FLAC playback, it would be the ideal format -- compressed, but lossless.  Does anyone know if there's any kind of FLAC plugin for iTunes?  Or any FLAC players that don't suck?

I was searching and couldn't find anything really all that FLAC friendly...  otherwise, yes, that would be ideal.

Foobar  has a FLAC encoder / decoder built right into it. It's got a very simple interface and is very easy to use. Really nice piece of software.

Yes, Foobar2000 is a great music player for MP3 and FLAC. The latest release has a really nice default interface, and it sounds great.

I think 320 kbps, or LAME -V0 is good enough though.
