Oblique Strategies
« on: February 18, 2012, 09:55:26 AM »
Anyone have a deck? I just got one (5th generation). They are basically black cards with the different strategies printed on the back.

I really like my deck, but I have been afraid to actually use it while recording.

Has anyone used a deck (or the app.) while recording? Just curious.

I have a deck, its the slightly revised edition from 1978, I'm assuming that makes it a 2nd edition. I have used it on recording projects in the past but not in a long time. Mostly it just sits around my studio, I'll just pull it out to show people when nothing is going on.
Take care.

This site lists the texts of all versions - has samples of the cards - and a really interesting Stratigraphy that shows the evolution of the texts...

I used to post a strategy daily over on the rM community - and then I stopped for awhile and then brought it back by posting creative images I found around the net of people's interpretations.  I'm on hiatus from it for now.   They are very interesting and thought provoking.  I'm not sure I'd "use" them in the midst of recording - but as far as thinking about music and recording... there are some very good things in there!
