Bvdub influences
« on: March 20, 2012, 10:05:21 AM »
Watched a 15 min. interview posted on YouTube with Brock Van Wey (Bvdub) where when asked his influences his #1 was Steve Roach (which was surprising to me in a way), and #2 was "Hypnos label 90's releases."  So at least we know he's got good musical taste.

Hey that's fun the Hypnos 90's era stuff!

I love those early albums - huge Saul Stokes fan.  HUGE I tell ya, HUGE!

i'm surprised as well to hear from Mr Bvdub that Steve Roach is his nr.1 influence,
from the interview i think you can regard him as a very friendly, OK guy!

his latest 2 discs fromn Darla are more beat (or even club-) oriented, not sure yet what to think of those..
but these certainly have a rather nice optimistic vibe throughout..

Never heard of Bvdub until today, I dig his ambient stuff, really nice!

Bvdub sez: "If you're not into Steve Roach, you're not into ambient."  Ha ha.  True!

Just received his new "Serenity" on Darla (w/bonus disc) and it's great.  Probably the most upbeat music I've heard from him.

Brock used to be a pretty devoted customer of our store... one of those wonderful lunatics who keep ordering over and over and over. We love people like that!

I very much enjoyed BVDUB's two releases on the Glacial Movements label.  His music is very consistent with what you would find on the Pop Ambient annual series.  Very good stuff!
