Hi Rick,

I never registered my Podcast with iTunes because I was concerned I'd run into copyright issues.  I don't exactly ask permission of many of the artists to cobble their stuff into the 'cast ... so I didn't want to tread on anybody's intellectual property for a homespun little "radio show."  Has this been a fallacy on my part?

I forgot to add:

if you want to simply subscribe to the podcast via iTunes, all you have to do is stick the RSS address:

http://www.asphalteden.com/?feed=rss2

into the "subscribe to podcast" box of the iTunes "advanced" menu.  It'll download the episodes automatically after that.

Brian,

Thanks for the iTunes instructions.  Now I can check out your podcast on my iPhone. I have my Hydrogen Cafe podcast mixes registered through iTunes and have not had any problems with it. The podcast is offered for free and I don't exchange any money in any way for my mixes. I also provide complete attribution for all of the artists that show up in my mixes through the tracklisting on my blog site. I also give links directly to the artist's website, Myspace page or directly to the album on Amazon to hopefully encourage folks to but their CD's. So, although our podcasts may fall into a "gray" area, they are usually seen as promotional by the artists. I have not come across any problems or negative feedback either through my blog or iTunes. I'm looking forward to giving your podcast a listen!

Lovely stuff on the latest collection...that Kvist release is a real beaut....have you tried the other stuff on Kvist from Raglani....a bit more eccentric and experimental but worthy by all means.

I am looking forward to listening this weekend.  Looks great.  Now if the weather turned hot & humid it'd be perfect.  Thanks.

Hey guys.  New episode up, and it's number 25!  October marks the fourth anniversary of The Quiet Sounds, too.

Happy Anniversary Mr. B.!!!
(Suddenly I'm channeling the "Hazel" sitcom of yesteryear). Anyway, congratulations and keep up the good work!

I made it most of the way through Quiet Sounds 25 last night, and really enjoyed it.  The best podcasts are the ones that give exposure to new, obscure or overlooked music we might not have otherwise encountered.  The only thing I'd heard here was the Roach track from Dynamic Stillness.

I also like the "narrated" podcasts, like a radio show, rather than a mixtape.  Good stuff, Brian.

Thanks, guys.  I think Ferngerms should be doing a podcast, if his Now Playing posts are any indication of what mysteries we might be exposed to.

I like to play a variety of stuff, partly because it's all music I like, and partly because there are a lot of artists who "fit" well together and don't necessarily come from the same corners of the genre.  It's a gambit to get Steve Roach listeners into Tim Hecker, or vice versa ...

Hi everybody.

The latest episode of Quiet Sounds is up and running, so head over and download if you're interested in my picks of best of '09.  This one's going to be in two parts, so look for the second half later in the month (in case you're concerned I might overlook a release that comes out in the next three weeks.) ;)

This podcast is also cross-posted at the pop-culture site called Zap Town, which features a little of my writing about each track.  That can be found here:

Cool, Brian... downloading now.  I also like the "podcast plus separate text commentary" idea for those instances when I may want to learn more about some obscure item included in a podcast.

I have somehow snagged the Ipod machine that I got for my wife last Christmas and have begun to seriously enjoy the podcast headphone action. Am downloading episode 26 and am excited to begin listening to this. Thanks Brian...

By the way, earlier in this thread, I see that Undershadow has now become a "guest" on the forum, what happened?

I assume Alan must have unsubscribed from the forum.

Alan unsubscribed from the ambient mailing list, this forum, and has pretty much vanished from all public discussion of ambient music as far as I can tell.  It's unfortunate, as he was always able to contribute something unique and valuable.

... and just after I posted that, I checked my email and saw a message from Alan on the ambient mailing list.
