Others have raised the alert previously when NI's having one of their big sales. After skipping the last couple of rounds of upgrades to Komplete, I went ahead today... upgraded Komplete 5 to Komplete 8 for $114.50 including shipping!

Holy wow, what a deal. Lots of new stuff included that wasn't in the package last time. Now I just need to do some recording again soon.

Anything worth getting in the new version? What about the older software that has been discontinued, does that stuff still work?

I haven't kept close track of what they added with each new version. This link shows in detail what's included in Komplete 8, both the regular and ultimate versions.

So far as I know, any older NI programs not included (or no longer included) in Komplete should not stop functioning just because you upgrade Komplete.

This didn't include tons of stuff I don't already have, but for $114.50, the updates, some new patches and sample libraries seem worth it.
