Olympics Opening Ceremonies--strange...
« on: July 31, 2012, 10:14:25 AM »
Is it just me or was that opening cermony at the London Olympics very creepy and bizarre?

They were playing the theme music to "The Exorcist" while creepy giant puppets floated around kids' beds.

The "Illuminati satanic ritual" theory I've read about the Olympic games is starting to make sense (and I say this half-jokingly).  8)

It definitely helped that I watched on a DVR so I could fast forward through the stuff like the creepy puppets.

But overall I rather enjoyed the opening ceremonies.  I think London looked at the Beijing ceremonies and said "Shit! There's no way we can pull that off!"  So they went for something completely different, something chaotic, funny, irreverent, and strange.  But that's what made it memorable.  Most of the music was awesome and I loved  Kenneth Branagh reading from The Tempest on a hill as in the English countryside.

I know it wasn't for everyone but I had a good time.

It was an interesting and strange ceremony.

Danny Boyle managed to stick up 2 fingers to much of the political establishment focussing on NHS etc, monarchy (how did the Queen feel watching the sex pistols in huge projecton?) and multinational corporations (NHS etc again.....

I don't if anyone would agree but it reminded me in a way of Forest Gump in that it carried much of UK psyche and 'folk memories'

I read an article last night that the entire opening music (the peaceful countryside and then the industrial revolotion) were both new works from Underworld.

Underworld?!! See, there's another clue of satanic symbolism.

Some of these radical conspiracy theorists are pointing out the most miniscule examples of evidence of this, and it can get kind of ridiculous; however, there are some weird things that don't seem to be mere coincidence.  For example, the pyramid lights around the stadium (with separate smaller pyramid at the top within the large pyramid) match the pyramid design on the back of the $1 bill (which are OCCULT symbols, and something most people take for granted or don't pay any attention to).

I think of all the great music to come out of London and they choose Mike Oldfield's (obscure to most people) "Tubular Bells" (as I said, the theme music to THE EXORCIST, a movie about demonic possession) is absolutely BIZARRE.

I don't know.  You may think I'm stretching it a bit that because they use music by a group called "Underworld" there is something satanic going on.  But the more pieces of the puzzle I put together the more things don't add up that these are all random occurrences with no significance.

Danny Boyle did the opening ceremony.

Danny Boyle's first movie was Trainspotting.

Underworld's "breakout hit" (at least in the UK) was Born Slippy from the Trainspotting soundtrack.  (it was played during the what I found a little weird... 'love' via cell phone and traversing the UK music charts section...  I didn't watch the parade 'o nations but apparently severl Underworld tunes were played then...)

They stayed friends since the movie.

Hence...  Boyle tapping Underworld to write new music for the ceremony.

If you haven't heard Underworld ... highly recommended.  "dubnobasswithmyheadman" is a gem.

Underworld "Second Toughest In The Infants" is an all time fav.
The announcers could have said 50% less and let the story play out a bit more..

Announcers feel a driving need, a desire, a crazed fetishy need to NOT SHUT UP.

Of course - announcing is what they're hired to do...

But yeah - even when I was watching a few events... the announcers just wouldn't shut up with a constant stream of pointless comments if nothing was going on... it's ok - we know nothing's going on... we can wait for Serena to bouncer her ball a few times before serving without a cutaway to the audience with a cute little story about so and so and almost missing the serve.

oh - whoops - tangent.
