Srg? Any info?
« on: October 06, 2012, 02:28:17 AM »
Years ago I stumbled on archive.org over this ambient or drone artist called Srg. He's got some nice longform ambient works there, for example:

http://www.archive.org/download/http://archive.org/details/DroneAug2004
http://www.archive.org/download/http://archive.org/details/MantraAug2005_82
http://www.archive.org/download/http://archive.org/details/HowthMantra

Does anyone here know anything about that artist ? I can't find anything on Discogs and it seems that outside of archive.org there's nothing available by him/her.

I was in the same boat for years. I'd discovered his long-form work and immediately fell in love with two pieces in particular:

http://www.archive.org/download/http://archive.org/details/OutOfPhaseLoopMay9th2009

But like you said, it was impossible to find any information on the artist. Early last year, to my surprise, he contacted me because of a short review I left for his work on the archive.org page. Needless to say, I was ecstatic to finally chat with him.  :D

His name is Sergio De Vega, and he's since released new work on Earth Mantra.
Here's some more details on him, along with the ability to contact him if you like: http://www.earthmantra.com/artist-detail.php?id=85
And here's his album "The Edge of Forever": http://earthmantra.com/theedgeofforever

Thanks a lot for the info. Cool to know he also released an album on Earth Mantra, one of my favourite ambient (net)labels. I think I'm gonna give that one a new listen in the near future...
