A Hypnos Forum member has just passed away
« on: May 09, 2008, 11:39:50 AM »
I'm sorry to report that someone known to many of us here on the Hypnos Forum, Gordon Danis, has apparently just passed away.  According to a posting on the space music mailing list, this apparently just happened.

Gordon has always been a big fan of the music and a supporter of many of the artists and labels familiar to all of us here.  I know Gordon had endured health problems in the years since I've known him, but I don't know the cause of his passing.  Maybe someone else here will know more.

Terrible news.  Gordon's been a part of this Forum since the very beginning and his friendly posts and personality will be greatly missed.

Gordon's post where always well thought out and well meaning, you could tell he really loved this music. I always looked forward to reading his recent discoveries and enjoyed his conversations. Gordon you are already missed.  :'(

Oh that's too bad. :'(

I've had several private e-mails with Gordon in the past, and he sounded like the nicest guy in the world. And he knew LOTS about music, ambient and otherwise. Sad...

I wonder what happened? I knew he had health problems, but I don't know any details.

Very sad news. I've Googled & made many a purchase based upon Gordon's "Currently Listening" suggestions.

Very sorry to hear this.  He was an avid supporter of our tiny genre.  Hope that his family is holding up well.

speechless...Only moths ago Gordon and I were talking about the new Con_Sense disc...The guy was a PASSIONATE listener of ambient music..And as his posts always revealed, he was constantly trying to promote artists' music...He will truly be missed....[[[no emoticon is sufficient]]]

I finally shook Gordon's hand for the first time the evening Mike, Dave & Jeff made magic in Philadelphia, nearly six years ago.  It was a honor to do so; his words were always painted with eloquence and he was so full of passion.

A huge ouch on hearing of his passing.

i did not see this post until after i posted a new topic. i have known gordon for about 10 years or so and he was a dear friend. he was definitely a bit on the eccentric side and totally over the edge. i think those qualities made him unique and lovable. he was certainly affable. and he was an ardent supporter of this genre - perhaps he was the only person i know who spent as much money on ambient music cd's as i have.
he was a huge help to me when i was having publisher trouble and he helped me bring down a very crooked and evil person.
i met him in person only once - at the show that bill mentioned above.
i miss him already.
all the best and God bless
jim

dear Gordon,
I don't know where you are now, but I can only hope that you are surrounded by the best ambient music.
Thanks for your friendship.

Very sad news indeed. Gordon handled promotion for my Zero Music label early on and was a very nice guy.

I met him when I played out at Jim Cole's place few years ago. A very friendly and knowledgeable person. he did have some health issues, in particular his spine. A very warm and passionate guy. He will be sadly missed, as a friend and a promoter of this genre.

thinking of you Gordon
