Where's AtmoWorks? Plans for the future! [ we're back! ]
« on: May 23, 2008, 06:58:33 AM »
Just a quick update on what's going on with AtmoWorks right now.   Our main website is down and consequently our email isn't working either...   however, we're alive and well and can be reached through our community site (see below).

* We're migrating to a new server within our webhost - unfortunately something went very wrong with the transition and our site has been down a full week longer than it should be.   (we're still down).

* We've been creating a wonderful community website... http://atmoworks.ning.com   which we're hoping many people will soon join.   It's still in beta and we're a long way from completion.   Right now - you can easily sign up, create a profile page, write blogs, post photos, upload your own music, post videos - it's a great way to communicate and especially collaborate with other musicians, artists, and listeners.    It combines the best features of a social network like myspace, or the old mp3.com, combined with blogging and forums, with easy ways to post your music or photography or art.

* Very soon... when you type in atmoworks.com - you'll see our community site on Ning instead of our store.   Our store will be integrated into our community.

* We're revamping the look and feel of AtmoWorks - the websites, logo, etc...    We're also upgrading and enhancing our store.

* We have a tremendous list of releases planned for this year - we're finalizing a few artists and will announce them later.

* Many of these releases will be the fantastic ambient music you've come to know and expect from AtmoWorks... on the other hand, as part of our growth in 2008 - we're branching out into other forms of music.    Expect to see a few IDM, techno, and even rock artists on AtmoWorks in the future.

* We have a few secret surprises in store... :)

Atmoworks.com is back up finally - but email is still down... :(    (frustrating...)

Our store will be down for awhile yet.   If you want to buy anything - just email me or Vir Unis.

I think this 'Ning thing' has considerable potential - it's the realisation of the amalgm of things that this new fangled web 2.0 promised. Good on Atmoworks for running with it !

cheers Pete

It's a very nice additional community for electronic musicians-lots of potential.

Quick update... we're now migrating to a different webhost after becoming completely fed up with our current one.   Unfortunately - that means another delay, but it's for the best.

The good news is the AtmoWorks store is finally up and running at:

http://store.atmoworks.com

The bad news is I didn't get that fresh coat of paint done that I really wanted to do.  There were too many other issues to attend to just getting everything migrated and dealing with the hosting issues.   We decided it was best to not make any changes to the store until after the migration was complete and things were working properly.

It took a lot longer than planned due to our old host making everything difficult.   I won't drag their name through the mud...    However, I will say our new host, In Motion Hosting, has been fantastic to deal with so far with multiple tech support issues taken care of in a timely manner.

Be sure to visit out new community at

http://atmoworks.ning.com

We've grown to 80+ members and we're very excited about it!

What's next?

Website changes are planned very soon for both the community and the store.

Coming in the next month or two released both as downloads at AtmoWorks and cdr's through Hypnos:

Vir Unis / Disturbed Earth
Jonathan Hughes
Exuviae
Disturbed Earth
Steve Brand
Mark Tamea
Igneous Flame / Achromus
Float Method
Camera

and releases from the three owners of AtmoWorks...

Vir Unis
MjDawn
