Loren Nerell's "Taksu"
« on: June 21, 2008, 07:36:09 AM »
This is a CD I keep returning to, especially in the hot summer months. I always thought it was very Apocalypse Now, but as a fan of LOST I've also started to see it as an extended soundtrack for that show, especially the first season. Just a weird observation. I'm sure we all make connections with albums like this.

Any recommendations for similar works, by Loren or others?

Terraform, a collaboration with Steve Roach, is a fantastic album. Totally otherworldly textures...

I still like Lilin Dewa best of Loren's albums, though many will prefer Taksu or one of the others... but I feel safe saying that if you l ike Taksu so much, you will probably like Lilin Dewa too.

I agree, Lilin Dewa is a really enjoyable album.    Harry

Taksu is great, I totally agree.  You may want to check out Kelly David's Angkor.  It's good slow, psychaedelic ambience from the jungle.  If you haven't picked up Forrest Fang's Gongland that's a real winner too.

Very good. I have "Terraform," but I'll look into the other recommendations.
