Your music?
« on: August 05, 2014, 07:37:49 AM »
I just found myself looking at some threads from artists here and wondering where there music is.  No links in signature or on their profile. Crossing_the_treshhold is the person I was wanting to click 'play' on.  Some amazing gear flowing into that studio - and I want to hear what's coming out.

So - where is your music - "your music" in the global everyone here sense?  List it below - and hey - add a link on your profile, too!

Thanks!

Thanks for your interest.
I'm totally newbie, with no musical experience, so this is my first track...

Some info:

Synths:

Roland Juno-60
Novation Supernova II

FX:

Lexicon PCM 70 (Hardware)
Valhalla Shimmer (Software)

Recorded live with a Zoom H-6 (I'm still deciding the best interface to purchase)

The waves were recorded @ Ericeira beach and added in Reaper. All sounds programmed by me.

I hope you enjoy!

That's a good start. It's not that unique but you have good control over your frequencies on that track and your production overall is quite solid IMO. Good job.

This is a great place to get really constructive feedback, better than anywhere else I've posted my music.

Hello Crossing The Threshold,

I agree, it's a nice start.  The mix seems a little thin.  I would bring in more of that mid-range drone, and maybe have it modulate into some other chords for variety a little sooner.

I would also try to resist the temptation of verbing the sounds too much.  Maybe leave some sounds in the foreground for contrast, with just a touch of echo or verb.

Good luck,
Forrest

Thanks Forrest.
I followed your advice regarding the mid-range drone, it looks indeed better!

Cheers!

Why do you call it ''Oceanscape''?

I don't feel any audible reference to oceans or ocean creatures, maybe someone else want to chime in..

The track is interesting to listen don't get me wrong.

What synths did you used?

With Oceanscape, I wanted to avoid cliches like sampling whales and waves. I think it definitely sounds aquatic to me, but to each his own I guess. I've seen plenty of people say that it feels very aquatic too.

Also, only about half the sounds were made with soft synths, if that much.
