Missing in action--where are they now?
« on: October 18, 2014, 09:28:52 AM »
Thom Brennan.  Seems to have disappeared from the earth (along with Tetsu Inoue). No new album for five or so years.

Andrey Faryus (Faria Records).  I assume the label folded, but never heard anything for years.

Patrick O Hearn.  Seems ages ago there was new music.

Steve Roach.  No new album in about three months.  I'm starting to worry.   ;)

Andrey Sadovnikov aka Faryus sold his label some years ago. His latest album is Quiet Songs From Misty Places. http://www.discogs.com/Faryus-Vadim-Bondarenko-Quiet-Songs-From-Misty-Places/release/2753652

Likely a typo. I've never heard of a CD released on a Saturday.  ;)

Exactly.  I got that information from the Projekt website.  Also, the CD is not listed for sale yet on Steve's website.

Didn't Bloodmoon come out just two weeks ago?  Hehe, how soon we forget.  ;)
Take care.

Inoue's been missing for a couple of years or more now.  Phonaut's post on it from 2012:  http://phonaut.wordpress.com/2012/06/21/where-is-tetsu-inoue/

The last paragraph explains why Phonaut would be one of the people to likely know and be concerned.

I thought I saw a mention of Thom Brennan somewhere - but I can't recall it now.

Steve Roach is alive and well.  And planning more releases.  He decided to take a few days off after Bloodmoon before forging ahead.

Steve is 59. Personally I don't think that is such an ancient age. In my view, a composer (in any genre) can just carry on composing, perhaps more so in ambient.

drone on...  I can answer the Vir Unis question as he's an old friend (since teens).  He's semi-active on Facebook - and is about to release The Book of Mutations 2 after a long break from releasing ambient.

Posted Oct 22 by John / Vir:  "This a 20+ minute preview of an upcoming Vir Unis album on AtmoWorks. I plan to work with some very talented and creative musicians on this throughout this Autumn and Winter. It's s continuation of Book of Mutations, which can be purchased at store.atmoworks.com "

received this from Thom Brennan yesterday:

"unfortunately nothing new completed yet.
I haven't been very focused on it recently but I'm still working on it slowly"

Bert, next time you chat with Thom tell him I said hi, I haven't heard from him in years. Good to hear Thom is still around and working on stuff.
Take care.
