OK.  Here's my contribution, a miniature:

 :)

Forrest

That was brilliant and certainly more lush than I was expecting. Well done.

I'm going in a much darker and more drone direction with mine, with a slight organic touch.

Thanks, Dave.  I tried pasting the embed code from the Soundcloud website, but couldn't bring up an image.  Glad you guys liked the piece.

Wow Forrest... if my dishwasher sounded like that, I'd be loading it up all day and night!

Here's my contribution. This ended up being more challenging than I thought it would be. Not sure how good it is but it's definitely different.

Yes, Castleview, that's a nice drone piece.  Sounds like a dishwasher at the bottom of the sea.

Both cool pieces, mine's on it's way - I'm adding some more 'ambient detergent' before it's spin cycle.

Very nice!  I'd love to somehow incorporate these different versions into a mix eventually.

Here's my offering 'Chthonic Cycles'

[soundcloud]https://soundcloud.com/igneous-flame/chthonic-cycles[/soundcloud]

All the sounds were made from Dave's original recording. Much use of vocoding, time stretching and the ubiquitous Paul stretch (amongst other sonic fripperies) were employed.

I'm really impressed by your use of Paulstretch because I don't hear any obvious traces of it. Great track.

Sounds great, Pete!  I especially like the vocoder processing---quite a magnum opus.

Cheers fellers !

If anyone is interested, here's some notes on how the track was created:
I initially made a loop from Dave's recording and used that as the tempo in the DAW (FLStudio), I've not worked with a tempo of 110.2 before !. I used the vocoder FX section of Native Instruments 'Razor' synth (one of my faves), this created the vowel / formant sounds as well as the more traditional vocoded sounds. I also employed lots of spatial jiggery-pokery and time stretching as well.

I should perhaps say a few words about the Paul Stretch program. I think it's a brilliant program (I even paid the dev some money for it, years ago), but I find it's default setting is used in a lot of cases (hence the samey-ness of output). It's really quite deep and there's a lot of parameters to play with. It can sound pretty 'queasy' though, (in my view) and gives a particularly harsh sound with transients. I almost always use the 'stretch' as a starting point for further processing. By the way, any iOS users should check out 'Audiostretch' which is quite brill in a different way.

Anyway, cheers Dave !

You creative types and your technical terms.  ;)

Love this track, BTW. I like Dave's suggestion that this could all one day be compiled into a new LLM.

Very nice, Pete!

I loved playing it for my son as he has a bunch of native instruments plugins and has just recently discovered vocoder fx.

Well done!
