Ambiloop is good for recording & playing multiple loops.
Live is good for playing/triggering loops, but is it good for recording them ?
Yes, I used it for recording only ... (Ambiloop save .wav files).
In my work "Mellow Stasis" I done loops (tracks) elaborations afterward:
1. live recording (overdubbing) with Ambiloop
2. Successive track time-shift with any multitrack audio editor
The problem I discovered on release 1.6 was a clipping on sound-on-sound
with "random" clipping peaks ... I didn't understnd if was a I/O problem or a sw bug (in my modest opinion something relating to real-time buffering...). I raised the bug to Chris, very kind person in facts, that endorsed my music too. At that times (2/3 years ago probably he din't have too much time to evolve / bug fix Ambiloop)
Now I think the best support for us (Ambiloop users)
is to feedback him to the forum he opened: http://ambiloop.com/forum/index.php
I got my Boss DD-20 with Looping Function and when i am
on my Mac i use Ableton. But most of the time i use the
Looping Function of my Boss. Pretty Good.
Me too I use a DD-20, not to open a discussion anti-Boss
but honestly DD-20 looping function (overdub) is really poor.
Personally I also hate the "without personality" of the filtered sound of this device,
and the lack of "intelligence" in a device not so cheap ...
Anyway, as usual, is up to the musician to get the best from a tool
