Huge shame on me for not having any ['ramp] CD in my own collection!!! It's time to fix this unforgivable mistake and even if the shipping won't start before September 11th, I can't wait to dive deeply into your intriguing soundworlds, Stephen!!! So my order will follow soon... Thank you so much for sharing the info about "Synchronize or die" CD, it's greatly appreciated!!!

All the best!!!

Richard :)

I don't know whether it has been mentioned yet but, last month, Chuck van Zyl conducted an interview with me. You can find it here:

http://www.starsend.org/2017-08stephenparsick.html

I hope you won't find it all too daft.

Thanks for reading,

German radio DJ Ecki Stieg of the famous Grenzwellen programme will be featuring my work in his next show on 25th October between 9pm and midnight (EST):

http://radio-hannover.divicon-stream.com/

Of course, the interview will be held in German (which might sound a little funny in places).

Thanks for tuning in. Enjoy!

Stephen

PS: There is also a fundraiser going to help Grenzwellen to remain an independent source of information. You can donate here, if you wish:

Thank you for your support.

In case you have missed the broadcast, you can find a free download of the radio feature here:

cold storage, the final rehearsal of the concert performed at Oberhausen Gasometer in November 2007 has now been made available as a FLAC download again:

https://stephenparsick.bandcamp.com/album/cold-storage

It used to be around for some time when Iapetus were looking after my digital albums but it has been offline since our collaboration ceased in 2012.

If you're into glacial dark ambient, I think you might want to give it a try.

Thanks for listening, and thank you very much for your generosity and support,

Stephen.

Happy New Year all!

I'd like to thank all those who supported my work last year and whose contributions have helped me to raise the funds required for the next ['ramp] album which will be released in May. More info to follow when it's about time... I believe it will be a cracker but that's only me, of course.

In order to feature the entire back catalogue on one single page (and give you an idea of how my music has evolved over the years) I have opened a doombient.music shop on Bandcamp as well:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/

I will release some more music from the back catalogue in course of the year so please drop by regularly.

You can, of course, also use the other slots for ['ramp] and Parsick that you're already accustomed to :).

Thanks for your time and your attention,

Stephen.

In order to make ordering multiple items (particularly when getting stuff by both ['ramp] and Parsick) more convenient and cost-effective, there now is the dedicated doombient.music webshop which features my own back catalogue as well as the one of ['ramp].

To celebrate the official opening (woo-hoo!), I have made two download albums available:

caverna larvarum by ['ramp]:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/caverna-larvarum

drones and shimmers by stephen parsick:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/drones-and-shimmers-2

Some years ago, these two recordings were available for a time when Iapetus and MusicZeit were collaborating. Those albums disappeared in around 2010 after their co-operation had ceased. I remastered them and added a bonus track or two (when I found one, that is).

Thanks for listening, sharing, and for your support, of course.

Stephen

PS: Later this month there is some fairly exciting news -- or not -- to come... stay tuned.

Hi all,

after five years of silence, I am delighted to present ['ramp]'s tenth release to you: synchronize or die. In order to commemorate the 20th anniversary of ramp's first-ever live concert in 1997 and celebrate twenty years of unsolicited noise, the album will be released officially on 29th august 2017:

Just listened to it again the other day on occasion of discussing Michael Hoenig's music in that other forum; excellent album!

Good news for all afficionados of out-dated and clumsy media (like myself, for instance):

synchronize or die will be released on double-12" vinyl in a lovely gatefold sleeve on 19th February 2018. Presales have opened, you can order your copy directly from https://www.adansoniarecords.de/shop/.

Please bear in mind that the two different pressing will be limited editions of 100 copies and 250 copies respectively (particularly the 100 copies of the orange splatter version with additional gimmick will be gone quickly, I suppose), so please make sure you order your copy in time.

I will also have a limited number of albums in stock which I will make available through my Bandcamp slot as soon as I have packing materials etc. to ship vinyl around the world (which is completely new to me). You might as well want to get in touch with me directly but please wait until I have the vinyl in stock myself -- I cannot reserve anything for anybody without knowing anything about quantities.

The album originally was to be mastered by Eroc but Andreas Bäcker, owner of Adansonia, was so pleased with my own mastering that he took this as the basis for the lacquer cut. The bit of vinyl mastering that was required (adjusting bass levels and some stereo stuff) was done by Dirk Jan Müller of Cosmic Ground fame.

Thanks for reading and spreading the happy news,

Stephen

I think it's about time to open a new thread but then again, here we go:

Thanks to the overwhelmingly positive response synchronize or die received, I could raise the funds for the next album in the pipeline, no sleep 'til wilmersdorf. Thank you very much to all of you who have supported me through their generosity and enabled me to pick up where I had left in 2012.

wilmersdorf will be the 11th album in ['ramp]'s history, and as you may have guessed already (telling from the title), this time it's going even further back (and faster) than with SOD:

In 1978/79, I spent some time in Berlin with my parents, living in the borough of Wilmersdorf, not too far away from all those historical sites as Thomas Kessler's Beat Studio, Michael Hoenig's place, Edgar Froese's home, Peter Baumann's Paragon Studio, or David Bowie's and Iggy Pop's flat in Schöneberg. To me as a six-year old boy, it was an amazing experience, witnessing the city divided by The Wall (not Roger's), passing through abandoned ghost stations in East-Berlin when taking a ride on the metro -- in fact, I still draw from these memories when spending time in Berlin, and I confess I quite miss the oppressive and bleak atmosphere this place used to have:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/track/no-sleep-til-wilmersdorf-album-teaser

The album will be released officially on 2nd May 2018 in order to celebrate the 35th anniversary of my very first musical lesson. It will be limited to 222 hand-numbered copies (real CD, btw, no CDR), and it will come with a 12-page booklet. I am taking pre-orders now (if you don't need to have the FLAC download) through stephen at parsick dot com -- be quick if you want to make sure you're first in line.

 Thanks for your time,

 Stephen

Hi all,

thanks to the forum bot reminding me that there have been no updates for the past 120 days -- I thought it was about time to post some news.

As a little season's gift, I have made the ['ramp] EP "electric karma" available as a digital FLAC download album. It's Christmas, and it's free (you can donate if you feel so inclined but you don't need to):

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/electric-karma

If you feel more comfortable with (or feel more accustomed to) ['ramp]'s slot at Bandcamp, please go here:

https://ramp1.bandcamp.com/album/electric-karma

Another freebie can be found here:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/demoing-the-rmi-harmonic-synthesizer

I demoed the RMI Harmonic Synthesizer at a synth meeting in October this year, here are some recordings of that demo. It's also free of charge (but, of course, you can donate if you wish).

Thanks to all who have supported me by purchasing either a digital download album or a CD (or both) from me this past year.

Happy Holidays to all of you.

Stephen

After having been unavailable for quite some time, van dik hout zaagt men planken has just been released to celebrate the 20th anniversary of ['ramp]'s Huizen concert on 10th April 1999 at Theater 3-in-1 in Huizen/NL:

https://ramp1.bandcamp.com/album/van-dik-hout-zaagt-men-planken

This was the Alfa Centauri Festival performance, opening for Redshift and Tim Blake. Thanks to Eric Snelders for the invitation to play (even though I am still convinced that ['ramp] probably wasn't the right opener...).

The digital download contains not only the live recording of the entire concert straight from the mixing desk (manned by the late Cosmic Hoffmann) but also two previously unreleased recordings of the two rehearsals that had taken place prior to the show.

These bonus tracks amazed me quite a bit as they revealed how close the concert was to the rehearsals -- in fact, it had been seriously ambient right from the outset, and many of the ambient bits during the concert were not to be blamed on the main sequencer rig crashing half-way through. Some of the ideas used during the rehearsals would later materialise in more solid form during the Jodrell Bank performance in 2001.

Fond memories abound.

Enjoy, and thanks for listening,

Stephen.

Last entry dates back to April this year -- that's quite some time.

At least, I can't be blamed of churning out albums like Ford churns out cars, I suppose…

I have made a new digital download-only album available through ['ramp]'s and Parsick's Bandcamp site:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/schwartzschild-music-for-planetariums

It is the extended version of my 2007 limited-edition CDR of the same title, and it contains roughly 90 minutes of extremely slow, dark, and cinematic ambient music, recorded for, well, a planetarium show. I thought you might like it.

Enjoy, and thanks for your support,

Stephen

Hi all,

I hope you and your loved ones are all well and safe from harm. These are strange and funny times (but not in a ha-ha kind of way) which show us how fragile our world is and that nothing we get we may take for granted. Let's be grateful for what we have got and for what we have been given -- it can all be gone in the wink of an eye.

Last month, I released my 2006 drone-album "tektonik -- music for earthquakes" as a digital FLAC album on Bandcamp. Thanks to all who have purchased a copy and supported my work this way:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/tektonik-music-for-earthquakes

This morning, I receieved an email from Stephen Hill (the other Stephen), informing me that a piece of music off the "steel and steam" album was aired nation-wide on Hearts of Space on 10th April. It was "puppets" that I had the pleasure to record in collaboration with Mark Shreeve many moons ago. This makes an old man smile:

As a little thank-you to all those who have supported me in these times by buying downloads or physical releases (despite the rather difficult situation at the moment, not to mention excessive shipping rates), I have made a new FLAC download album available, titled sommeil -- a concert for sleep:

https://doombientmusic.bandcamp.com/album/sommeil-a-concert-for-sleep-new-orleans-2009

It is a 90-minute piece of dark ambient soundscaping which is based entirely on processed ambient drones and field recordings. I recorded these bits back in 2009 when contributing material to a sleep concert performance, held by Tanner Menard at Antenna Gallery in New Orleans, Louisiana -- you will find more detailed info over at Bandcamp.

This download is supposed to be free of charge but, as always, you may donate if you wish. Thank you very much for your generosity.

Stay healthy and safe from harm,

Stephen
