Hollan Holmes - Prayer To The Energy
« on: February 02, 2017, 08:06:49 PM »

Above: Cover painting for my new double-CD release, "Prayer To The Energy".

I'm happy to announce the release of my sixth album, entitled "Prayer To The Energy", a double CD with over two hours of new ambient electronic/space music. It's currently available at:

http://hollanholmes.bandcamp.com/album/prayer-to-the-energy

CD-1 is sequence-based compositions and CD-2 is drone-based soundscapes. The CDs are packaged in a six-panel eco-wallet, featuring two of my oil paintings, one of which graces the cover (seen above).

Mastering was performed by Chad Kettering of Soniclayers, Dallas, TX.

This was a huge project, spread out over a two-year time span, but most of 2016 was spent advancing my art career (I'm now a full time landscape painter). This is also the first album of mine that was not done solely within Reason. Several of my hardware synths were used on this one, as well as Presonus Studio One II and a plethora of VST plugins, including Spectrasonics Omnisphere 2 and Kontakt.

I invite all of you to go to Bandcamp and check it out and, as always, thank you to all you here in the Hypnos forum for your support. If anyone has any questions about my work or this release, feel free to ask.

Cheers,

hhh

Sampled this on Tidal the other day and really liked it. It's on the shopping list.

I have said it before but HH is one of the most underated ambient artists.
Really good and epic quality music, I like the cinematic quality it has.

I did listen to this album a couple of times when I was in Gothenburg some weeks ago.
Overall it is a really good album.

Absolute stand out tracks for me is the the track "Great Expectations" , very emotional track that opens up doorways into past memories but also make you reflect about the future of your existence and life, kind of introspective journey into yourself.

I hope HH will get more fans, I have made a few threads recommend your albums here on hypnos.

Can't agree more!!! For me, Hollan Holmes is already one of the giants of the genre!!! Each of his albums is highly recommended, plus a collab with Resonant Drift guys as Common Ground. I have reviewed all these albums on this forum, so don't miss this huge talent!!! :)

Richard, I think your review and IIRC Hypnagogue's review are what pushed me to check it out. The cover art is very nice too. I'm definitely going to buy it when I can.

Listening to this now on Spotify...

It kind of reminds me of old-school downtempo trance circa 2000, but without the percussion components.  Carbon Based Lifeforms was one of the groups that initially took me down the path of ambient music and this vaguely reminds me of some of their older soundscapes.  The mix of overlapping arpeggiated synths melodies mixed with delay/reverb effects can be a beautiful thing... and I think you've done a wonderful job with this technique!

You just earned another follow/listener!  :)

Just noticed this is on Spotify, will check it out today. Briefly heard some on BC a couple of weeks ago and thought it was very good. Looking forward to a proper in depth listen and suspect it will be added to thei urgent list.

If anyone is thinking of getting this album, I can confirm that the 2xCD looks as well as sounds great.

Aural and visual bliss, it's quite obvious for each album of Hollan Holmes, including his Common Ground collaboration with Resonant Drift guys. Explore and enjoy!!!

I really love the scope of this project, lush and dreamlike in quality. The title track and "Sublime Stasis" are most certainly favorites.
