as artists, how do you decide whether
to offer your art on itunes/amazon or not?

Hello 'h',

I presume your question refers to whether an artist considers streaming of their work to be in their interest, or not so ?

cheers
Pete

I decided years ago to let it go on all digital platforms - whether for sale or streaming.  Which is a good thing because sales dropped to nothing streaming is the only source generating any pennies.

Bandcamp still the best deal for an artist selling music.   But you have to drive people to you on there.

p

no, more interested in why some artists who stream
on other sites like bandcamp etc. do not use itunes/amazon

i got hacked on paypal and now have to rely on other avenues

igneous flame is on itunes but not phobos as an example
matthais grassow has some but not all his works on itunes
cryochamber artists are on itunes but not el culto

thanks,     h

Bandcamp doesn't distribute your music to iTunes, etc. The way I understand it is that to be on iTunes, Spotify, etc is you need to sign up with a digital distributer, (Tunecore, etc, etc), and they will distribute your music to the various platforms. For this they charge you a per album fee per year I believe, the guys who are on those platforms will no more about this, or maybe other ways.
I apologise for the amount of times I have used "etc" in this post ;D

Yes, to get up on iTunes, Spotify etc. you have to pay some kind of a fee. I use CD Baby, as they charge an upfront fee, then that's it. I presume that's one of the reasons that some people go for the Bandcamp only option.

Oh and hello to 'jkn' haven't seen you around here for some time !
