I have a granular sampler called the Microgranny. Here's a demo video someone else made:

It's pretty cool. I've finally found the time to mess with it and it's definitely interesting. The only real negative is that putting samples into it is a bit of a pain as it only accepts 8 or 16 bit mono WAV files at a sample rate of 22050.

I have heard of it, the limitation with the WAV files did put me off. Is it worth getting?

For $200, which is what I paid for it, it is definitely worth it.

IDK if I'd make an entire album with it, but it's fun to play it through some reverb and delay. It adds nice granular touches to whatever I throw into it but of course, it does sound a bit gritty.
