Favourite plugins ?

I tried to limit my plugin buying this year, but succumbed to these few:

Melodyne

I use sidechaining quite a lot (which I think is unusual in droney ambient) this is even more useful than regular side-chaining.


Izotope Music Production suite (older 2.1 version) still full of lots of really useful stuff - especially for mastering.

Anyone else with their recent faves / purchases ?

I bought Soundtoys Crystallizer, have installed it but haven't got round to using it yet.
Also got Raum freebie from NI, had a quick play with this, sounds promising.

I tried Raum too. It is pretty neat, but I haven't full explored it yet.

There are always new things to tempt us with,but (conversely) I still use some things that are considered to be very old in this age of change regarding music making. I used to frequent a forum for iOS music making and the members there were always looking for the 'new shiny thing'.

'Old technology'  - not always such a bad thing ? valve amps / non-linear compression / distortion etc.

I agree, nothing wrong with old technology, hard or soft. We also have to be careful, as most of us here are creating music as a hobby, when we buy something new it has to be because it is going to be useful, and get used often,  and this would more apply to software, the latest hardware can be picked up on the second hand market quite easily.

My all time favorite still is Spektral Delay, which was discontinued now 15 years ago. I still haven't found anything to replace it.
