New Oberheim Synth.
« on: June 19, 2022, 04:29:56 AM »

A special moment in time as the OB-X8 is a collaborative effort between Tom Oberheim and Dave Smith as the video below explains.

In this demo of what looks like a prototype OB-X8.....any fan of Steve Roach's Structures from Silence can hear a version played at about 1.06 minutes.  The sound is perfect........https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fINfcawRYE0

Yes looks like a great synth. Looks like I can finally get a replacement for my old OBXa that I sold years ago.
Take care.

Hi Loren,

Indeed.

Where you at Oberheim when the OB series were coming out?

My Matrix 12 is showing its age but still hanging in there.  This may not have the modulation capabilities of the M12 but it certainly has that sound.

I was there during the Matix 6, 12, Xpander days. We did still sell OB8's from time to time, but that was usually a custom build projects made from parts we had left over. I only remember three or four being built while I was there.
Take care.
