Steve Roach brought the Tucson heat with him to Manhattan, NYC this evening. Not only was Manhattan was in the 80's this weekend. But Steve Roach was on fire and brought the Church Of Heavenly Rest on its feet with an unprecedented performance. I thought this performance was better than his Ambient Church performance in LA pre Covid. Visuals was spot on as well.

R.I.P. Vangelis.
I found Vangelis's music with the movie In the late 70's after hearing Tangerine Dream's Sorcerer album. But didn't really get into his music until the movie Chariots Of Fire. He will be sorely missed in my house.

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Steve Roach concert

Steve will be performing a live concert at the Phoenix Synthesizer Festival to night. I'll be there to see his first gig since the pandemic hit. It will be interesting to see and hear his performance. I'm sure there will be a lot of energy released in Phoenix. Can't wait.

I think that Steve is tapping into his archives of alternate versions, unreleased tracks and live stuff as well as fresh things. He is so uber prolific that I think he can make this work.

My problem is that I can hardly make time to give good listens to all his regular releases, let alone all these monthly releases too. Wow!
I've been a Steve Roach Bandcamp exclusive subscriber from Day 1, January 2020. I didn't hesitate on signing up. I have all of Steve's work/releases from cassette to vhs tapes to vinyls and cd's and downloads. Not every release in every format. So when I saw he announced his exclusive club I joined. I'd like to see more of his live stuff being released. Otherwise I find it well worth it.
I heard he has a $20month Bandcamp exclusive club he is offering also? Has anyone here joined that one? How is it and what do you get with it? Double his releases?

Finally, the new collaboration album Beyond Earth & Sky is out. Already pre ordered this a month ago and should see it any day now. Listening now on Bandcamp. Sounds like Michael brought out his Beam on The Long Road. Saturday's soundscapes.

What is/are the most analog driven album or song(s) by Robert? My mind is drawing a 0. Hemisphere box set?

I would like to see Steve and Robert perform live together. Two different style's but similar. I saw Roach, Djam Karet and Loren Nerell in Pomona several years ago. That was epic. Sadly I missed the Soundquest Fest 2010 in Tucson. Fingers crossed Steve will be in the City of Angels this year.

I'm looking for a ticket for Steve's 2nd night show. Yes I messed up and forgot to purchase for Fri/Sat night's show. But I did buy Sunday nights. So I'm now looking for Sat night. If anybody out there has a spare or cannot make it Sat night please PM me. Thank you.

Michael's long-overdue planetarium album "Music for the Dome" is finished & already at TrepStar ready to be uploaded to BandCamp. But, it's holding off on releasing it 'till September when college radio is back 'online' for the fall semester. Everything simply shuts down in the summer.

Most of Michael's time has been spent scoring a feature film for Sony, long project that will take him through next spring for release in 2018.

In addition, he's been working on a new two room studio up in the foothills of Santa Fe. The upstairs studio will be all synths and guitars, downstairs is a large Dolby Atmos mixing stage. Downstairs is finished, he's working now on the upstairs studio and systems integration at the moment.
Thx for the update. Really missing MS work. Totally awesome music.

From my understanding Michael spends most of his creative time doing sound for amusement parks and the occasional movie. I also heard he was going to perform in Tucson last February, but I don't know what came of that. I think I saw some photos of him on Facebook of late, it looked like he was traveling.

Last I heard he was suppose to perform in tucson. But that never happened. As far as his Facebook. I thought his page was hacked. I saw the travel photos but it did not look like it was his or related.

I know Michael Stearns performed a few years back at Ambicon. But he has since been quite....again. Kit Watkins has been very quite for the last 10+ years. I thought Michael was going to do a gig in Tucson this year but that did not happen.
Does anybody know whats going on with the 2 musicians?

How does the newly remastered cd sound compared to the original (Sonic Atmospheres) cd? I just pulled it out from my collection and listening right now.
I was hoping M Stearns would perform live someplace USA after the 2013 AmbiCon gig. The one that I missed. And now regretting it. I know he was AWOL for about 10+ years before that weekend. Heard rumors that he was going to perform a live show somewhere earlier this month. But that did not happen. But the music still lives on......
.......How about a one off gig somewhere in beautiful country Michael Stearns?

Let me add that the AmbiCon 2013 gig, M Stearns was my favorite artist for that event. I felt it was way to short of a set for Steve Roach and Robert Rich to accomplish what they normally do best.

Edit: Checking on eBay while listening to Within - The Nine Dimensions, that cd is up for sale on eBay for $150+. I guess it's more rare than Planetary Unfolding.

considering it as an investment since it will become an collector item which you probably can sell on ebay for much more then what you gave in the future.

Well lets see who buy the book for that price.
what is expensive is very relative..so..

Investment? I don't know if it could considered as an investment. It does cost a lot. How much do you think someone could get on eBay or other places? I did buy the book with CD combo pack. I can see maybe after the limited 100 copies are sold out at Timerooms and Projekt that somebody might want to purchase it and is willing to pay $200+ for it. Or if I were to try and sell it later that a hardcore Roach fan might want a copy of it. But I could be wrong. The book is really nice. Worth the $$$? Guess we will have to wait and see.
As far as the cd's... I was at both shows in LA and also have the podcast version. But I am really digging his newest releases Emotion Revealed and Live in Tucson-Pinnacle Moments over in Bandcamp. Was also at the Tucson gig for both nights. Epic nights.

 8) pre-ordered this evening. and now listening to the samples on bandcamp. I will say this. . .if you enjoy Steve's music, then you are in for a rude awaking! This is Steve at another level taking a step backwards by going forward in a huge leap. analog. I've been waiting for this release with big anticipation. I can wait a few weeks for the hardcopies to arrive. Especially the vinyl. This digital stream will do for now. a HUGE 4 thumbs up for now. awaiting the vinyl.....
...to be continued.

Thought I'd start this one up now a month before it's release.
Steve's next release should be an interesting one. When I first heard and saw the title I was a little surprised. But after reading about it I thought it was very cool. Although the information and track titles are up on his website there are no sound offerings yet. I'm sure it will be up around the time of the pre-order. I will be ordering both vinyl and cd. I am about to pull the plug and buy Robert Rich's vinyl Premonitions. The 3 songs that I heard sound really nice. I was at Rich's gig in Pomona and I wish I had bought it then. But the $ was not available at the time.

Nice! Maybe jump in for a short duo? Or not. Take a seat and chill out to Steve. I wonder what Steve has in store for us this year.  8)

Wow, not even I would travel (and I'm just a few states away) to a Steve Roach concert, unless if it was within 50 miles.  Now that's dedication!

LOL. I've flown across the pond each year since 2008 (except for 2011 I believe) to see Edgar Froese's Tangerine Dream perform live. Last year for 2 shows in Frankfurt and Cologne. Steve Roach I've been going to see perform live every year since 1996. Flown across the states to Hartford in 1999. I dig the music. But it's the "live" experience for me. Sure I can go see RUSH, U2, Scorpions, etc play live in front of thousands as they play basically the same songs (past hits). It's all good. But to be into the gathering at Steve's concert's is what makes it so special. If he performs in Tucson next year I will be there again. Robert Rich is another one I would take a road trip or fly out to see live.
