Blind Guardian - Beyond the Red Mirror (and A Twist in the Myth or something like that). These guys bring it top to bottom! Saw them for 2nd time last year in Worcester, MA at the Palladium, check for youtube videos. FABULOUS show, 2+ hrs for them alone. Hansi came out in a white jumpsuit and big doo a-la Elvis, rest of the band were also in costume. AMAZING! And one of his comments was "hope it won't be another 5 yrs before we come back" relating to the last time (about 5 yrs) they were here with Symphony-X on the bill (gr8 show too). I love these guys, great presentation and execution in all parts. If you like power metal and haven't heard of them, get your ass in gear for a helluva ride!

For those who celebrate it. Hope all is going well! I landed a new job late October about 2 miles further from my last job at a startup. Too bad they went under as they could have ruled the college world! But that's another long story. Anyways, have a safe and happy holiday!

Well still lurking around. I just uploaded my first 2 releases over to and and at some point I'll get the others up to those sites as well. It's too bad that artistserver went under...Gideon gave it a good run...  Hopefully I'll dredge up this project with some new music in near future.

After a gaming drought, I'm getting back into space sims with Elite:Dangerous. Finally bought a new joystick so hopefully, I won't bounce off the landing pads trying to control a ship with a mouse and keyboard.

I keep meaning to get back into Guild Wars 2, especially since the first official expansion, Heart of Thorns, was announced this weekend. The new lands of Maguuma look interesting. Not much else interesting to me, although I may pick up Wasteland 2 and get my Fallout 2-style post-nuclear RPG on.

Get back into GW2 and look me up lol. I spend waaaaaaay too much time grinding out in SilverWastes. Looking forward to the expansion (finally!). Staff for Ranger, Greatsword for Necro! Guild Halls (again Finally!), etc...the new areas with the living story they open up are small but have a bunch of metas to do (which are tedious to beyond annoying - the coins for instance...have yet to find last 4 in Dry Top and a bunch over in SW area.... or the jumping puzzle there...).

As for console games, I got a bunch for PS3 I haven't played (or not in ages) and some for my Wii which I should revisit as one looked pretty cool (if I did buy it, have to search/rummage around for it...).

Well Winters Day is done and gone as of last tuesday and the start of the remaining living story kicked back in. Log in before next Tuesday to get it for free! I am not sure how many more updates to this before the end of it as I haven't been following the discussion(s) on it. Tons of events/mobs out in Silverwastes (up the wazoo at times if you catch it right). Bring a friend! lol

I liked them back in their heyday but now they need to put it to rest like the Stones and some of these other old-timers...You made your millions, now go away! And Simmons comment about rock dead/murdered, way off base. I'll leave it at that. ;-)

Well Winters Day is upon us in Guild Wars 2 again! They also introduced a change (if you haven't read about it) to dailies and monthlies (I think also for monthlies). Not too keen on it still as I think there's too much PvP choices. And the winters day dailies (and not super keen on this either since 6 choices and have to complete 5 for that daily). Still lots to complete for metas out in silverwastes (events up wazoo constantly).

Oh and merry christmas (early)!

Arrived and poked around a little on prime for tv shows and watched a couple movies yesterday (via the PS3). I guess I need to load some additional apps onto it, just not sure what would be worthwhile and free that can be  loaded onto it. I little klunky as I had to move some stuff around to plug it into the TV via the power cable to the A/C block. Now I have to find the 4th HDMI port so I can hook my 12' cable back into it if I wanted to display from laptop to the TV....

Some CRUSHING FUNERAL DOOM - Solemn They Await - Sanctuary in the Depths. Some claustrophobic heavy as hell doom! I am glad I checked them out on Bandcamp (I think that's where I picked it up). Fans of brutal funeral doom with gutteral vocals will be well pleased! Orchestral, guitar driven stuff. Looking forward to their next release.

And also check out HellLight (on Hypnotic Dirge Records) for some fabulous funeral doom from Brazil with great clean singing  and sick vocals (atmospheric/orchestral as well - well done!).

And of course the new Bloodbath with Nick holmes (Paradise Lost) on vocals for some sick old school swedish death metal! And also look into Vallenfyre (Splinters track crushes but video is cheesy IMHO) from Greg Macintosh (guitarist for Paradise Lost) which is wicked old school death metal. I hear Edge of Sanity (guitar tone and style) all over this and their first release. Good stuff if looking for something heavy with that tinge/style to it.

Anyone pre-order it? I ordered two. One for myself and the other for my girlfriend. Since we both have Prime it's a quicker way to watch it vs having to fire up other components and couldn't beat the initial price offering. Basically 2 for the price of one. Unfortunately that was only for 2 days which has since passed. Looking forward to playing with it once it arrives. Still on the fence about a Roku 3. Not sure if they've got a Roku 4 in the wings either....

It came about after went down if I recall correctly. Same guy started that site up. Initially was mostly electronic music related, but some time later it opened up to other genres. Too bad it went down as that was one of the few sites I have my music up on. Soundclick, bandcamp, reverbnation are the 3 that are currently active. I may look for another site that caters to electronic music  in the same respect *or* stick with Bandcamp/Reverbnation. I just don't want to be paying for multiple sites if I can help it. I see one increased the size of the tracks but have to check my mail on who it was (recently announced in email to me).

well, halloween is in full swing in GW2 since tuesday. I believe it goes till 11/4 when the living story season 2 picks back up. I don't like the way they changed gems->gold and vice versa but hear it is going back to normal. ATM you can't set the number of gems to sell for gold - bullshit move imho. TONS of candy corn (need 6k to get 6 corn cobs to get a mini bloody prince or carlotta spider, other one zuzu cat of darkness is 12 cobs/12k candy corns - I got it in a drop so just picked up other 2 via candy corns!.

Insane amount of crap from trick or treat bags from kills in the labyrinth. The LICH is a royal PITA that I want to get completed for meta (meta is done but more pts towards achievement chests). MAJOR degen from it and retaliation from other mobs off/on make it a hard one to complete. Oh, then we have the labyrinth horror (giant skeleton with a frickin chainsaw!) that pops from some of the careful which one you open! AND don't pop more than one at a time (legendary candy corn boss has a 2nd door right next to it). I have only been into the mad kings clock tower jumping puzzle, still sucks! Not sure if I'll work on it before it ends. And only need 4 more rounds in the inquisition to get that meta done.

I think due to the shorter time period is why there's so much stuff dropping (trick or treat bags give a lot of different stuff, like up to 10 or so different things). Certainly a time waster if you are bored and wanna grind for bags/candy corn! Get yer tuckus in there and raise some hell!

No, I guess what I was saying is that neither Chromecast nor Roku would seem to be much use if you don't want to watch streaming video, since that's pretty much all they do.

Chromecast from what I understand slings it to your TV from a PC - not what I am interested in. Roku though has a bunch of stuff on it (I am looking for free worthwhile stuff on it) to put out to my TV since it isn't *smart*. Cheap enough investment and I already have Prime from Amazon via my PS3 so I can watch whatever I feel like when bored with TV or just for something different. I know Roku has a bunch of channels (some not for kiddies). Anyone check out I think a horror movie streaming channel on it? Be interested to see if there's anything cult or worth while in that respect (and/or sci-fi/anime/fantasy channels).

Hi Mike,

So you think a Roku 3 would be a better investment for the time being? If/when I replace my tube HDTV in the bedroom the 47" LG will probably migrate to that room (and Roku with it but that would mean running it via WiFi or routing yet another cable through the walls....not looking for that....) and get a little bit larger one for the living room.

Everything and Nothing / apparently shut/shutting down
« on: October 09, 2014, 11:19:59 AM »
I have been on that site since pretty much Gideon ( days) started it up. Apparently this is something to do with revenue (I was paying $40/year for past handful or more there) and I got no email stating this was happening/happened. Rather disappointed with that as I was on the site in the past couple of months or so and saw nothing on it stating it was shutting down.

Anyone have information link it in here as I'd like to find out what happened.

Been using Live off/on since version 3.04. The markers are the warp markers that Live tries to set up for the transients in the clip (to what someone was saying about all these markers in the clip/sample).  I also have Studio One V2 but haven't done a lot with it since buy it 1/2 off a couple/few years ago. I like its window setup (similar to Live's). Session View is where you can create your clips/samples and mess with them and set things up as scenes (row across screen = scene which you trigger from right side of screen) and the follow-on actions (look into that as it's kind of cool). You can drag clips from Session to Arrangement via click/holding and drag to the buttons on right side or hit Tab and then drop into your track. Each corresponding track in session will record to its same track # in arrangement view as an FYI if you haven't found that (probably have).

The instrument (Live's) integration is great. VSTi handling is decent (could be better with some manufacturers, NI for one). The slice to MIDI stuff is sweet (read up in the manual, there's a couple directories for setting up default Impulse and Sampler if I recall as well).  I just have to get off my lazy ass and get back working on music....

Free WEEK of Guild Wars 2. Go to the site and register and then you'll be able to play. My contact info is metalmike.8347 I think. Let me know your char name if you decide to try it out in this thread and rough times you'd be on (PST/EST) so I can know when to look for you.
