Music Gearheads Tech Talk / Waves Deal (up to 40% Off)
« on: December 26, 2014, 04:04:15 PM »

Hi there,

first of all, IMO itīs a great EP but I know this music may be not everyoneīs cup of tea.

Iīm mainly interest in your subjective opinion about the SOUND (not the music/composition/arrangement/style) on a specific track and how the sound translates or "feels" for you on your speakers (please donīt use headphones):

IMPORTANT: For this questions I refer to the 3rd track "Sleep" only:

These are NOT "pro-engineer-questions" only, so Iīm interested in all opinions.

1. Whatīs  the trade and model of your speakers?

2: By running this track ones or several times, is there anything in the balance of the sound which is annoying for your ear? If so, which section feels wrong - please write the time of the section(s)

3: Is there a parts of the track you would like to hear louder or quieter? If so, which section? - please write the time of the section(s)

(4): For all the artists here on the board - imagine you are the mixing and/or mastering engineer of this artists, which part(s) of the track you would definitely EQ? Please write the time of the section(s) + approximate range of the problematic frequency and say roughly what you would change (i.e. increasing/decreasing frequencies etc)

Thanks for your participation!

I own a couple of his libraries and they sound excellent, so i believe this is a fantastic deal!

Music Gearheads Tech Talk / Anyone here with suggestions?
« on: May 15, 2014, 11:35:51 AM »

As you can see, I have an insert-fx after the mixer but I need to split the signal after, so I can hear the effect (if itīs not bypassed) on my monitors and also record it at the same time (soundcard). Definitely prefer to have the in/outputs as XLR for the "?" gear. Any suggestions concerning the "?" gear?

Music Gearheads Tech Talk / EQ Searching
« on: February 25, 2014, 11:33:04 AM »
Hi there,

some time ago i read about a special EQ which had a visual Mini Keyboard included. As it had also a realtime spectrum analyzer it was a very handy feature to see problematic frequencies in notes.

Unfortunately i didmīt made a note about that plugin and now i canīt find it anymore  >:(

Anyone here who can help?

Everything and Nothing / Ambient Music + Copyright

As it seems that this issue needs to be discussed more into detail, i thought to open a new thread.

Especially this statement I find on the edge of respecting other artists work:

Quote from: Immersion

in this sound style... the tolerance is higher then for other music for sure…..

A lot of music i sample based and are using sampling all the time, hip hop for instance, the genre would not exist if it wasn't for sampling or stealing,   but as long as you do something artistic with it,  or put it in a new context I think it is creative..
Also I think it depends on what is being sampled, a melody  for instance... but even with that you should not have alone rights on a melody just because some one was first, if some mind can come up with a melody I am sure another mind can come up with the same with time,   Also a samples used but put in a different context or music style I think is a way of using it artistically..
I just do not think all this commercial bullshit should interfere with the artistic output, let the music be free,

It clearly suggests that using other artists music is OK as long as you make something "new" out of it, no matter if you have the permission to do so. Such kind of statement made me think of just 2 possible explanations:

1. the author just want to excuse and justify those usage for whatever reason

2. the author donīt know about any legal terms

Everything and Nothing / Digital Compact Camera - any advice?
« on: December 19, 2013, 03:31:00 PM »
Hi there,

wanting to purchase a new compact digital camera which can suite into my jacket pocket!

Please donīt start with any SLR recommendations here as iīm not interested into that.

In my radar are:

:: Canon S100/110/120

:: Sony Rx100 (Mark II)

:: Panasonic LX7

:: Olympus XZ-2

High ISO isnīt an important issue for me….iīm looking more for color fidelity, fast and precise AF plus good Macro options….also manual mode should be available!

Is anyone using one of these? Any experiences? Any samples to share? Any other suggestions?

OUT NOW ::  Nautic Depths - Elsewhere I (Musical Philosophy)

Comes as Luxus Digipak

"Elsewhere I" is the deepest and most colourful album by Nautic Depths so far. As the title suggests, it explores and dives into those places any listener of Ambient Music very likely knew about. A feeling of moving out of reality and physical focus with a sense of being "Elsewhere" - like an emotional journey to known, but also new and free places. "Elsewhere I" (followed by Part II later) is particularly inspired by these mind-based territories we can only reach through our imagination...
