Other Ambient (and related) Music / Ampoule Records now on Bandcamp
« on: April 29, 2020, 11:39:55 AM »
I asked this label for a couple of years to please consider putting their backcatalogue on Bandcamp...well, now it's happened and more releases are being added all the time.

Some of you may remember the release by Pub from the late 90s/very early 2000s, "Summer" and "Do You Ever Regret Pantomime?", but there's a lot more that they've put out. This is not necessarily pure ambient music but often melodic electronics with beats. Should appeal to some folks around here.

Here is the new BC site:

I'm not affiliated with the label in any way, just a fan.

Everything and Nothing / CD Duplication Plants
« on: September 12, 2018, 12:14:56 PM »
A friend is looking at having a CD manufactured (not ambient music). He hasn't decided on CD or CD-R yet but the run will probably be 100-150. I know people here have had experience with small run CD manufacturing so I thought I would ask. He's located in the U.S. but might be open to a non-U.S. plant if the pricing and quality are right. Thanks.

This recent podcast was done by an old friend of mine. There's some new age, ambient, and other stuff. Very nice listen overall.

Independent Music Reviews / New Ambient/Experimental Music Blog

Two blog posts so far, more coming soon.

Follow on Twitter for updates:

Just noticed this recently, so I figured I'd post it here. It looks like Malignant Records is slowly uploading some older OOP releases to Bandcamp. Not all of the titles fit into the ambient realm, but some of them do.

There area  couple of older Caul titles so far, an album by Hyios (which I have never heard), a compilation that looks interesting, and Hazard's first album (haven't heard that in years).

I already grabbed "Crucible" when the Caul BC page was up (it's since been taken down), but if you don't have it, I highly recommend it.

I don't know if anyone here was a fan of Tear Ceremony's albums during the 90s, but I thought I should share this since no one seems to have posted about it.

At any rate, Tear Ceremony released four albums of excellent ambient music and then the artist behind the project, Todd Gautreau, shifted his focus to other types of music under different names.

In late 2014, he released an album going back to a more ambient-flavored sound under the name Tapes and Topographies. I only found out about it when I ordered some CDs direct from him and he mentioned it. It's a good album IMHO, and seems to have gotten very little attention or promotion and that's a shame.

He has a Bandcamp page for the album up here:

I think some people here would dig this if they gave it a chance.

It also looks like a new Tapes and Topographies album is being released in late March/early April:

I searched the forum and couldn't find anything, so I thought I would start this thread.

Is anyone else a fan of this album? I like it quite a bit, took me awhile to track down the CD. Recorded in 1990 and released in 1993 on a sub-label of Dark Vinyl. It's dark and spacey but doesn't seem to try too hard to be overly dark or whatever.

I don't know much about the artist that made it, apparently he was better known as a trance techno producer (not a fan of that style) and passed away in 2003. Apparently there was an posthumous album released in 2004, but I have not heard that one.

Here is a youtube link to the album:

Not available for sale at any digital outlets AFAIK and the CD is long OOP, though there are a few copies for sale on Discogs.
