Rain 2 (full)

A video with all 67 minutes of "Rain 2"-- and directions for obtaining a dvd.

"This EP is intended to complement the Summer 2012 release of my Projekt CD, 'Animism.' These pieces are examples of algorithmic and fractal sketches that I often use as 'seed' material for more detailed and extended pieces. 'Prism,' 'In the Serene,' and 'Early Rain' were recorded this past year while I was working on and finishing up 'Animism.' 'Kepler' and 'Wildlife' date back to the late 90s, during the time I was recording what would later become my first Projekt CD, 'Gongland.' This release is dedicated to my past and present friends in the algorithmic and fractal music scene, including Dave Strohbeen, Yan Terrien, Phil Jackson, John Dunn and the late Tim Conrardy. Special thanks to Thomas Park for graciously providing a home for this release and to photographer Mark Mushet for the cover art."-- Forrest Fang, 2012

In less than 1 week, on June 18th, Treetrunk  200 will be released. This is “Seeds Of Memory” by Projekt artist Forrest Fang, a wonderful ep of 5 tracks of smooth, experimental ambiance. “Seeds Of Memory” is a free companion release to Fang’s cd due out from Projekt at the same time, called “Animism”. “Seeds” will be available in mp3 and flac form and is highly recommended. I can’t wait to release this material– I bet you can’t wait to hear it!

Hi folks!

If anyone is interested, I have some music that I did together with Robin Storey of Rapoon about 10 years ago. It's called "Music For Transit".

I have recently had the tracks remastered by Ben Cox, and he did a superb job.

I have some free download credits, for Bandcamp, so if you want to message me I'd be glad to send you a code and the URL to visit for a free copy of the work.

The first track is especially great, as Robin composed it-- 11 minutes of awesome Rapoon-style ambiance.

Thanks for your time.

Epoch Preview (Shane Morris and Mystified)

Here is a video preview for "Epoch", a collaboration between Shane Morris and Mystified due out on Spotted Peccary/Lotuspike May 8, 2012. Only acoustic sounds were used, including, in the foreground, Mystified's trombone sounds. Mr. Morris added other sonic elements and composed the pieces. For more information on the release, including purchasing, visit after May 8, 2012.

Treetrunk Records now have the tracks, artwork and liner notes for release number 200, which is an ep by excellent artist Forrest Fang called “Seeds Of Memory”. Two pieces from the ep hearken back to the Gongland era, while 3 are newer, generative pieces. Treetrunk is listening to the tracks now, and they sound spectacular.

The ep won’t be released until June 19, so mark your calendars.

Music Gearheads Tech Talk / Oblique Strategies
« on: February 18, 2012, 09:55:26 AM »
Anyone have a deck? I just got one (5th generation). They are basically black cards with the different strategies printed on the back.

I really like my deck, but I have been afraid to actually use it while recording.

Has anyone used a deck (or the app.) while recording? Just curious.

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Palancar

This release really gets to me, for some reason. Maybe because it's by Palancar, who started Stillstream and Earth Mantra:

A really nice release that deserves a listen, imo..

Forum Member Projects News and Promotion / 2010 Xmas Mix: Still Fresh
« on: December 17, 2011, 07:23:46 AM »

A dark ambient / glitch take on the holidays, with some great artists:

Holidays can be a time of great joy, but sometimes, let's be honest, other feelings intrude. My friend the psychiatrist says he takes more calls during holiday times than any other time of the year-- calls from sad, angry, desperate people. If the symbol of the winter holiday is a toy, perhaps for some it would be a broken toy. This mix uses glitch, circuit bent and other sounds to explore the darker sides of toys, and of the holidays themselves. Mixed by Mystified, here is a set from the Land of Broken Toys. Thanks to all participating artists!

Featured Tracks:

1. Transitonal Drone- Mystified
2. Trip Down Memory Lane- Adamned Age
3. przestrzen-rozproszonych-funkcji-ponowoczesnosc- rakombinacje
4. Eliot's Broken Toy- Tribe Of Astronauts
5. Searching For New Species- Dyman
6. Captain Kirk Remix- BpOlar
7. ice-nine- Fosel

Some additional sounds by Phillip Wilkerson

Music Gearheads Tech Talk / Free Trombone Drone Samples
« on: March 05, 2011, 03:44:30 PM »

5 free drones of processed trombone tones. Feel free to stop by and listen to these. Their primary purpose, though, is to be used as samples by musicians, as part of their compositions. Use for free, but please don't forget to attribute!

This is a mix of dark ambient, drone and experimental tracks with the subject of the dying city. You know-- urban decay-- rusting girders, broken trains and cars, dripping pipes, and so forth. Various eligible and cc-licensed tracks were included in the mix, including excellent music by Fosel, C. Reider (with PBK), Adamned Age, Tribe Of Astronauts, Mystified, Mister Vapor and Digital Mass. Hi-fidelity mp3 and FLAC files are available, so plug in, tune out, and imagine the natural end of cities as we know them.
