Whatever happened to Mr. Phillips?  His sight has not been updated in quite some time, and I haven't seen any new releases.

I am on AOL e-mail and I have never had problem receiving e-mails from Hypnos.  Most of those come in response to order', granted, but I have received one or three from you or Lena in the past.

Wayne, I feel your pain.  We had a Malta-poo that we lost at 13 years old.  Very special dog.  Followed me everywhere.  Stayed with me on the couch, when I cut grass or raked leaves.  Let her out to do her business, and she would come back in without prompting.  She stopped eating one day, and a couple of days later I came home from work and she got up off her bed and promptly fell over.  took her to the vets and she passed away 3 days later.  Just totally full of cancer.  Never complained once.  Cried like a baby when we went to see her for the last time.  They wiggle their way into your life and provide a wonderful source of love.  So sorry for your loss!!!

It looks like ambient music is guaranteed an esoteric audience.

It's like a secret only a few people in the world share, and I'm in on it.

Well, cool!  I learned that I am a member of a secret group within an esoteric audience.

Just went over to the Earth Mantra site and got an account suspeneded page.  Anyone know anything?

Jimi Hendrix - 1968 - New Orleans -  Mind Blowing.  Don't even remember the opening act.

Pink Floyd - April, 1972 -Lyric Theater in Baltimore - DSOTM had not been released, so, we were expecting sets of old material.  Wow!  Were we surprised.  They opened op with Dark Side, and it was just mezmerizing.

Genesis - 1972 0r 73 - Allentown Fairgrounds - Nursery Crimes and Foxtrot - Gabriel in full costume.

Yes - 1974 - Tales of Topographic Oceans tour - Harrisburg Farm Show Arena - the sets were amazing, - Roger Dean brought to life.

Genesis - 1978 - 79 - Then there were three tour - Penn State.

Worst concert - The Doors - '68 or 69 - Morrison's voice was terrible, and the crowd was antagonistic ("Morrison's dead!" chants) Las Vagas

"on the same page" as in "we're not on the same page", and " at the end of the day" indicating what should be in place, happening,  or who should be in charge or responsible.

Frank Sylvis and I live in the western suburbs of Philly (Bryn Mawr, Radnor, Villanova area).  Spent 10 years in New England (North Andover, Nashua, Methuen, Salem area).  My wife still works from home for a company based out of Salem, CoreMedical Group, placing traveling nurses and allied health professional.  I work for a local health system as a finance manager here in Bryn Mawr.  Been in love with ambient/electronic music for ever, originally starting with Pink Floyd, Wendy Carlos and TD.  I have about 750 pieces of vinyl in my basement including such labels as Audion, Secret Music and the IC label.  My family hates ambient and my wife accuses me of playing it just to drive them out of the family room where my 5.1 is set up.  ;)  Been buying Hypnos stuff and related CDís since about 1997.  I have over 1,000 disks of bought and self made ambiet/tribal/drone/space/soundscape stuff now.  Bought my 1st Steve Roach vinyl in 1984 (Structures from Silence) and my kids were born in Nashua to the sounds of the Quiet Music tapes.  (Didnít stick with them though).  Like to read and listen to the likes of Oophoi, Robert Rich, Hypnos, Spotted Peccary, Project, Roach, Brennan, Numina, and a lot of the new guys putting stuff out on net labels like Earth Mantra.  Been to several Gatherings, and even took my wife to one (huge mistake).  Intersperse my ambient with ECM jazz and ECM classical just to keep a semblance of peace (along with a local Classic Rock station).  Very amateur photographer, using a digital Nikon SLR, with a nice collection of Amish work.  (Spend my weekends traveling around Lancaster County.)  I like to lurk here and read the interactions between all of the ambient musicians, although not a musician myself, I enjoy the repartee.  As I write, I am listening to the new Mystahr offering from Earth Mantra.

Welcome to Philly!  The land of cheesesteaks, Tastycakes and soft pretzles.  Many wonderful things here to see and do, great resturaunts and, of course, the Mummers Parade.  Hope that you enjoy your stay.

Other Ambient (and related) Music / Re: Ambient with lots of rain sounds?

Then, of course, there's this one - Paul Vnuk Jr. | Silence Speaks in Shadow.

Very quiet, rain sounds and thunder for sure, and other nifty sounds in the background.  A wonderful recording!

If you proper English blokes (hey check that out, I said "blokes!") think we Murikans are speaking some kind of wrong-headed non-English, you should hear the way most-of-'em talk over in Philadelphia!  As William Shakespeare is to England, so is Chuck VanZyl to Phillytown.

Now, Mike, not all of us from Philly say "wuter" when we mean "water".  And not of us say "yous guys", either.
