I received this yesterday and it is GREAT!! Very hypnotic deep stuff with Hillage's glissando guitar, beats and electronics.  Highly recommended to all Forumites.

It seems there are many who just don't "get" this music.  In fact it's the majority of people, I've found. That's why I'm thankful for this Forum: people who actually appreciate it without dismissing it outright as "weird" or "not music."   :)

A Deeper Silence is perfect late night/sleeping music.  This is one of SR's better long-form Immersion type releases, deep but not "dark."  I like this more than the Immersions or Darkest Before Dawn (which was too bleak for my taste).  My only nitpick on Deeper Silence would be that it never changes, just one repeating loop for the 70-plus minute duration.  Dream Circle and Slow Heat had some variations (however slight), but this one doesn't.  However, it is one hell of a loop. SR shows why he's the master at defining "deep."

I'd like to echo all the praise--the label and the store are now everything I hoped Hypnos would/could be some years back when I had lost hope.  MG and Lena are doing an excellent job, I've had nothing less than excellent service on my orders from the store this year. Thanks!!

Infraction does it again with Parks' "Umber" CD, just received this today and it won me over instantly. Like a lost Fax sublabel release meets Beautumn. Highly recommended!!

Ambessence is a very nice release.  Headphone listening is recommended on this, as the drones are low in the mix and very subtle (my car stereo didn't do it justice).

Kenji Siratori's "Callous Cell" on Oophoi's Umbra label continues the label's quest for excellence in ghostly, dark, ethereal ambience.  I was surprised how good this is, as all I knew of Siratori was that he was a "noise" artist from Japan and sci-fi writer.  While some of the disc is quite dark, it has some incredibly ethereal, beautiful passages as well.  Definitely worth picking up if you are an Umbra/Oophoi fan.

My first reaction to Alio Die's new album, "Aura Seminalis," was my jaw dropping to the floor at how absolutely CELESTIAL this recording is.  I am close to concluding this is the definitive AD album he has been working towards for the last, what almost 20 years now? A beautiful distillation of his sound and an incredibly spiritual trip.  Some forumites have commented it doesn't sound like AD, but I feel just the opposite: this is AD all the way, no mistaking it. The ghostly, mournful Gregorian chants, DEEP drones... this is Alio Die's magnum opus!!  If I had to compare it to other previous works, I'd say "Door of Possibilities" and "Descendre Cinq Lacs..."  It's a shame this CD will not be more widely distributed (only avail. from the website) because it is one every fan who's ever loved Stefano Musso's work has just got to hear.  Bravo Stefano!!!

OK, it's official: Zeit's "Waves from the Sky" is truly magnificent.  God, this album has it all: drones, field recordings, sequencers, mellotrons, guitars, bass...this feels like a celebration of so many great influences, from 70's cosmic music to ambient minimalism to organic ambience.  Stunning!! I highly recommend this disc, one of the very best of 2008 so far.

Deep R.- Planetary Unfolding is available at Groove Unlimited, I guess they acquired some rare copies of this.  It's also on Ebay right now up to $37...Yeah, Stearns has been off the radar far too long!

Gordon, thanks for the review of the Zeit disc. Really looking forward to hearing it.  Also I agree, Mondi Sensibili is the best of the three Aglaia releases, although I've not heard the new one on Faria yet, "Unprofaned Twilight." I'm waiting until Soleilmoon gets it so save some cash.

Loren, I could argue with you all day about this topic, but honestly I don't know why there is so much resistance to somebody pointing out the obvious.  If you can explain to me why Somewhere Else is being sold for $6.99 at Projekt and Soleilmoon, for a reason other than that it was a commercial flop, I would love to know. As for "Blood Machine," that CD was advertised on the SR site last year as "very last copies" and now it is "on sale."   Yes, it is a great album, but obviously sales haven't been too swift for whatever reason.  I promise not to make any negative comments about SR for at least six months. ;-)
