Christopher Willits - Live on Earth Volume 1 (free download for his first 1111 FB fans)

This is a wonderful introduction to his live performances. I've seen him twice, solo and supporting SOTL, and am pretty sure you'll find the only repetitive element in his perfomances is the freshness.

Lately:

Wereju - Under The Receding Wave - MJ Cassettes
(A bit meatier....not so drone based as some of his works...although both the A2 and B2 tracks are lo-fi muddiness)

Marble Sky - Sway - Monorail Tresspassing
(The best in guitar drifts....only available as a cassette but if you search well enough you will find the mp3's)

Alistair Crosbie - Music For Lighthouses - Quinquaginta
(Fantastic tone drips from Crosbie...if you dug his AFE release this skitters along the same path...perhaps not the sunken ships vibes but more radiant and illuminating)

Tu M' - Monochrome Vol1 - Line
(Easily one of the ten best thus far in the year....nothing ground breaking but the tones and drones are just swell)

Fern

9dragons

Roach - Possible Planet ... weird and wonderful.

Dave Michuda

Robert Henke - Signal to Noise
Loren Dent - Anthropology Vol. 1
ADAM PACIONE - STILL LIFE #9- GREEN THEN BLUE

I'm liking this too. Very Basinski in parts. Also starting into Transcriptions by Mathieu and Deupree. Still patiently awaiting Marsen Jules' Golden and Cluster's Qua.

Ah...yes I am a fan of the Transcriptions disc....the Qua I have not had a chance to listen to yet....it's in my stack but it will probably be another month before I get to it....yeah I have a horrible habit of buying too much music...the "Golden" to be honest was forgettable...nothing comparable to his last few discs on City Centre.  Oh and you might want to get the new Thomas Koner on Fario Recs....I believe it was just released yesterday...so get a copy whille you can I have feeling these are going to fly.

Qua, after three listens is delightful. Just got Golden yesterday along with another disc Martin sent me as a bonus. Finding both really delicious actually. The question re. the new Koner
disc is...who's carrying it? I sent the question to Forced Exposure. Seeing as Amazon found me a new copy of the 12K release of Lawrence English, I'm hopeful.

Thanks for this heads-up, Fern.  I ordered one from the Fario website—sometimes sending money to these labels is like dropping Paypal dollars into a black hole, but the fact that you've gotten yours makes me feel more comfortable that the disc exists! ;)

What's the url? Can't seem to find it!

Also, for the sake of clarity, Faria /= Fario, two separate ambient record labels with such similar names.  Fario wrote to me about this release and I thought it was Faria at first, and I thought "What happened to Andrey?"

- Lawrence English: A Colour For Autumn

Begins excellently, but becomes a bit up and down for me.
I'd like to see him stick in one vein for a complete album.

Ah, its probably because I especially like tracks one and three,
rather than the more guitarish (and uneven) others.

But still a good release.

Also playing

- Last Days: The Safety of the North  -- he does little wrong in my book.

- Philipp Weigl: Fragmentry Proof -- new release. Love all his other things,
but this is a tad different style in the first half. Last few tracks are briliant though.

It took a little detective work, because it is a sublabel:

Thanks! It functions like it was designed by a bureaucrat! Ack!

Infraction

Adam Pacione - Dobranoc LP on Elevator Bath

- excellent as expected

Ian Hawgood - Wolfskin CDR on Hibernate

- the ever prolific Hawgood!  It's a little uneven.  The first track is like a gentle Andrew Chalk guitar piece, then it gets on a slightly puzzling short loop fix for about 4 minutes - and I love loops.  Other tracks are not as obviously looped, and even sound like Seefeel in places.

Wilco - the album

- still trying to get into it...

Brian Eno - Music for Airports

- finally sprang for the remastered version, still a favorite.

Hypnagogue

Getting an early listen to Roach's "Destination Beyond"--sits in the valley between Landmass and Stillness... So it has a very familiar sound, but still very engaging.

Also been enjoying the upcoming disk from Broken Harbour. Dark drones and rhythms in a nice blend.

After attending the Derby Electronic Music Festival http://www.admusiconline.com/main/festival.php
I've been playing the twenty CDs bought there by the likes of Ron Boots, FD Project,  and
the recent releases by AD Music & Groove.  Of particular note is Shifting Sands by Ian Boddy and
David Wright.  There are melodic parts (some led by a Shadows-like guitar sound), but has its
ambient parts.

Dave Michuda

new discoveries...

Thomas Feiner & anywhen - the opiates revised - This is an updated release on David Sylvian's Samadhisound label.  Originally recorded in 2001, the recording has cool, atmospheric arrangements with very Sylvian-like vocals.    I like it so far, not sure how much I'll end up liking it.  But for now I'm glad I found it.

Perry Blake - still life - I discovered this when researching the Feiner album.  I'd never heard of Perry Blake, anybody else familiar with his stuff?  Definitely has a Bryan Ferry, David Sylvian feel to it.  I like this one & will have to check out some of his others.
